Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex (TMSC) opened in September 2008. The complex consists of two 90x130 yard MaxPlay field turf fields, one 60x70 yard grass field, and a field-house consisting of public restrooms, a concession stand, and locker rooms for ASU's soccer teams. TMSC has quickly become a soccer jewel in the High Country.

Long called the "Field of Dreams", Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex was constructed through a three way partnership between High Country Soccer Association, Watauga County, and Appalachian State University. Utilizing land provided by Watauga County, High Country Soccer Association conducted the "Field of Dreams" capital campaign raising $2 million to complete the initial construction phase. Additional resources were provided by ASU, creating the main Stadium Field which the women's soccer program uses as their home field. HCSA uses the facility as it's home facility hosting all of HCSA's outdoor programs and home matches. The complex is also used by Watauga County Parks and Rec youth soccer program. The Stadium Field is also used by Appalachian FC, our local NPSL team, as their home field during the summer months.

Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex played host to the 2011 Southern Conference Championships for men's soccer where Elon defeated UNC-Greensboro 3-2 to claim the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on November 13, 2011. In 2015, TMSC hosted the Sun Belt Conference Championships for men's soccer where Hartwick defeated Georgia State. The facility has also been utilized by Lees McRae College for regular season games as well as for the Conference Carolina's women's soccer tournament.

The largest crowd in attendance of a match at TMSC was 1,256 on October 19, 2016 when the ASU men lost to Coastal Carolina 2-1 in overtime on the annual "Pack the Mack" night.

Field Rental Information

TMSC RENTAL AGREEMENT

RENTAL INFO: The TMSC is available for rental to parties outside of HCSA, ASU and WCP&R. Rental requests are presented to the TMSC Management Committee, representing HCSA, ASU, and Watauga County, for approval. Only activities approved by the TMSC Management Committee are permitted.

RENTAL FEES: $100 per hour per field. Lights are an additional $25 per hour per field.

RESERVATIONS: Reservations must be made at least 2 business days prior to the requested use date. Weekend rentals (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) must be made by the Thursday prior to the requested weekend use date.

PAYMENT: Full payment is required prior to rental use. Full payment is due 2 business days prior to the approved use date. Payment is currently accepted via cash or check. There will be a $25 service fee for any returned checks.
