GILROY LITTLE LEAGUE

Thank you Volunteers!

Gilroy Little League (GLL) is a reality because of the many volunteers that dedicate their time and expertise to player development and fun. Thank you to all of our volunteers!

1. Background Check: Required by Little League International. GLL partners with JD Palatine to process all volunteer background checks. All volunteers need to register as volunteers via the GLL registration system; thereafter, an email with link will be sent to each volunteer for background check completion.

2. Live Scan Fingerprinting: Required by Little League International. Even if you are fingerprinted through another organization (e.g. work, alternate youth sports program), you must be fingerprinted with GLL specifically. As long as you serve contiguously (no break in service between seasons), you need not repeat fingerprinting next season.  If you are unable to attend the scheduled date, it is your responsibility to complete Live Scan fingerprinting and provide proof of completion. IMPORTANT: You must bring the GLL specific form with you, if you get Live Scanned on your own: Live Scan Request form.

GLL Hosted Live Scan Fingerprinting: Saturday, January 25th from 8:00 – 3:00 at 8339 Church Street. Cost is $20 per person, payable with cash, check, or credit card.

3. Concussion Certification: Required by the State of California. Completed via NFHS.org

4. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Prevention Training: Required by the State of California. Completed via Eric Paredes Save a Life Foundation.

5. Little League Abuse Awareness Training: Required by Little League International, and completed via Little League University. You will need to create an account with Little League International or login to an existing account.

6. Little League Diamond Leader Training: Required by Little League International and completed via Little League University. You will need to create a new account with LLI or login to an existing account. If you have previously completed Diamond Leader training, you need not take it again, however, you will be required to show proof of completion.

7. First Aid & CPR: Any online First Aid & CPR training will satisfy the requirement, however we recommend the following free training: https://www.firstaidforfree.com/free-online-first-aid-courses/. Additionally, anyone attending GLL’s Safety Meeting (Feb 1st, 10:00 – 12:00) will satisfy the requirement.

8. Opiate Notification: Required by the State of California. To satisfy this requirement, one must read the link to follow: Alternative Treatments Fact Sheet.

All of the on-line courses will provide a certification upon completion. Each volunteer should print certificates and give to team manager, who will eventually submit to the league via Division Director by February 26, 2025.

Additionally, all team managers are required to attend one safety training hosted by GLL’s Safety Director. The date for that meeting is February 1st, 2025 from 10:00 to 12:00 at GLL’s Locker (505 Mayock).  If a manager is unable to attend, please inform your director and he/she will coordinate with you directly. This must be completed before the first practice, and before equipment is issued to the manager.
