For the second straight time, the United States and Mexico will square off to determine the champion of the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship.

Two years ago at Grenada 2016 the two North American rivals met in the final with the U.S. taking home a 2-1 victory to claim its fourth CWU17 title.

But Mexico come into Tuesday’s final brimming with confidence. El Tricolor downed Canada 2-1 in the semifinals and is unbeaten in its last four matches (3W-1D-0L).

The Mexican pack plenty of punch in attack and have two of the tournament’s leading scorers in Alison Gonzalez and Natalia Mauleon (4 goals each).

Reaching the final was far from easy for the U.S., who had to overcome a 1-0 deficit to Haiti in the semifinals before clinching a World Cup berth with a 3-2 win.

Leading the way for the U.S. is Sunshine Fontes, whose also has four goals scored this tournament, including a brace in the 3-2 victory over Haiti on Sunday.

If history is any indication, the U.S. will certainly fancy its chances. The two teams have met five previous times in a CWU17, with the U.S. taking home four wins and just one draw.
