Goalkeeping Academy @ KSC

Goalie Training is now in full swing. Kalamazoo Soccer Club's Director of Goalkeeping, Doug Knudsen, is working with all Zoo Crew keepers to offer goalkeeping specific development to club members year-round. Fall session goal keeper only sessions concentrate on technique and team tactics. The winter training program is open to members and non-KSC members consisting of 16 weeks of goal keeper only sessions to develop and polish technique. Spring sessions return to concentration on technique and team tactics and summer training opportunities include a one-week goal keeper-centric camp to develop technique.

Goalkeeping Program Overview

At KSC we are proud to present our comprehensive goalkeeping program to our community. For the past year, KSC Director of Goalkeeping, Doug Knudsen has been working diligently with KSC Executive Director, Eieri Salivia, to design a GK program that redefines the importance of such a specialized position within our club.

In our commitment to better educate our community and prepare them for a successful journey in the sport of soccer, we would like to show you how our Goalkeeping Academy is designed, and how our program takes care of goalkeepers like no other in town.

Our program starts here...
KSC staff took the time to design a program that take advantage of multiple technologies accessible for training these days. The main objective is to make goalkeepers understand the importance of such a beautiful position, and to make them feel important for keeping their teams safe throughout the season.

Understanding the goalkeeper's position has a journey of its own is what helped us design a program that aids a child's development as a player with their teammates. Goalkeepers are field players, and they should still learn everything other teammates learn. However, as other players put extra hours in learning specific details about their favorite roles, goalkeepers also need the extra hours to learn how to protect the goal. Take a look at our program and how is design to develop great persons, and great goalkeepers.

Feedback for personal growth...
Our goalkeepers receive constant feedback in training to encourage their growth, as well as out of training to track their development progress. To give you an idea, our goalkeeper evaluations help goalkeepers stay on track with development thresholds. Take a peek at here to learn how our evaluations give emphasis to personal growth through our rating system.

A planned progression...
Our professional approach to development involves a planned progression to dictate our teaching methodology. We want our goalkeepers to develop according to their age and skill every year. Furthermore, we want to make sure every year builds on past years experience, making the GK Academy from U9 to U19 a rich journey of more than 360 hours of specific training.
