HCSA Coaches on the Move

HCSA prides itself not only in developing players but also developing coaches. Player development is typically a byproduct of developing good coaches. HCSA has produced quite an impressive 'coaching tree' of coaches who got their start here in Boone and have since moved on to a full-time career in the coaching industry.  In addition to long-time DOC Kiki Wallace departing the club we also say farewell to three other coaches who have made significant contributions to HCSA.

Cat Wallace will be departing with husband Kiki to Indianapolis where she will continue coaching 2 teams with the Indiana Fire Juniors. Cat has been with HCSA for 5 years in a number of roles and most recently coached the Watauga High School girls.

Coach Phenix Durham graduated from ASU in May and is exploring opportunities to become an Assistant Coach at the college level. Phenix has also served in a number of roles at the club, most recently serving as the Head Coach of our U11 Girls team.

Coach Jason Freeman is also headed to the college coaching ranks in Mishawaka, Indiana after accepting a position as an assistant coach at Bethel College with the men's team. Jason coached with HCSA the past 2 years most recently coaching our U17G, U11B Navy, and U18B in the past year while also coaching the Watauga High School boys.

We wish all these coaches the best as they ply their trade elsewhere and are thankful for the contributions they made to High Country Soccer! Cat, Jason, and Phenix, you will be missed!

It's not all sad news and departures though, as we also welcome back a past coach and look forward to promoting some coaches within our ranks. Gody Zayobi returns to HCSA after a year away from the club! We're excited an opportunity presented itself to bring Gody back and he's planning on taking 2 travel teams and perhaps taking on additional roles for next year. We are also excited to promote Marco Fonseca from our U10 Academy program to a travel team for the upcoming year. The HCSA coaching staff was composed of nearly 40 coaches this past spring season, so the coaching cabinet is still very full of developing coaches for new DOC Jody Young.
