Montgomery Soccer Club

Member Agreement

Member Agreement

The following agreement has been prepared so that you know what is expected of you as a member of The Montgomery Soccer Club. Members of The Montgomery Soccer Club are expected to act like reasonable and prudent individuals, who represent the club, and individual teams on and off the field. The staff spends many hours teaching responsibilities on the field, and feel it is equally important that parents and players know their responsibilities off the field.

The Montgomery Soccer Club values hard work, commitment, and excellence both on and off of the field. The Montgomery Soccer Club believes that a player's commitment to training sessions and games will not only help the club's success, but will also improve each team's quality of play.

Fees

It is understood by signing this agreement that the payment of fees must be made in full and in a reasonable time period. Any player that falls behind in payment may not be allowed to train with the team, and/or may be ineligible for any games while fees remain outstanding. Injuries and/or players quitting the team do not excuse players from meeting their financial commitments to the club.

Parents and Spectators Code of Conduct

Parents/Spectators must set the example for players by exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship. Parents/Spectators participate in a match by watching, cheering and supporting the efforts of all participants of the match. Soccer should be fun. The game is for the players; their participation and enjoyment of the game is the most important element. Still, parents have responsibilities to the coach, to the team, and to the entire Montgomery Soccer Club organization.

  1) Parents/Spectators must respect the authority of the referee and his/her assistants. They will not harass, abuse or berate the referee during or after the match. They shall not enter the field of play unless, in an emergency, a staff member or referee asks them to.

  2) Parents/Spectators are expected to respect the staff coaches and their assistants; they should never criticize a coach in public. Likewise, parents are not permitted to coach from the sideline; let the staff coaches do their job no matter how much you may disagree. For example, a parent may think that a player should quickly throw the ball in, but the staff coaches may have instructed the players to play at a slower pace.

  3) Parents/Spectators are expected to show respect to all players. Make only positive comments. Encourage both teams, and never berate either team. Cheer in a way to reward the good play of both teams, and promote fair play.

  4) Parents/Spectators must not use foul or abusive language for any reason.

  5) Parents/Spectators have a responsibility to learn the laws of the game, and the spirit of the game.

  6) Parents/Spectators are encouraged to get involved with The Montgomery Soccer Club and promote it in a positive way.

  7) Parents/Spectators must demonstrate sportsmanship and integrity; they are the role models for their children.

Players Code of Conduct

Athletes play soccer to have fun, to learn, to develop a passion for the game, and to improve their skills. In doing so, they represent their team, coach, parents and community. Montgomery Soccer Club Players must maintain a high level of sportsmanship and fair play. Players must have respect for their coach, opponents, and the authority of the referee and his/her assistants.

  1) Players will play within the laws of the game and spirit of the game.

  2) Players are expected to be on time and prepared for matches and training sessions.

  3) Players will display self-control in all situations and will not use foul or abusive language at any time before, during or after a match or training session.

  4) Players shall train and play to the best of their ability, have a positive attitude and encourage others to do the same. Negative comments by players will not be tolerated.

  5) Players will show respect towards the referee and his/her assistants as well as towards the opponents. They will not harass, abuse or berate a referee for any reason.

Any time a Montgomery Soccer Club Team travels, players, parents, and coaches are expected to:

  1) Act appropriately and avoid circumstances that could negatively represent the club and its members.

  2) Dress and act appropriately at meals, in hotel lobbies, and during special events.

  3) Always be mindful that their actions represent the entire Montgomery Soccer Club community.

Friendly Reminders

A. Practices

  1) The staff reserves the right to cancel practices at anytime that they deem necessary, in order to protect the safety and well-being of the players or the property.

  2) Players are expected to attend every practice, unless that practice is deemed optional by the coaching staff. If a player cannot attend practice due to unforeseen circumstances, then that player is required to notify their coach as soon as it is possible to do so.

  3) Parents are welcome to watch practices, but should not be a distraction to their child or the team as a whole. Parents are not allowed to enter the practice field unless invited by the staff. (Be mindful of pets, siblings, etc.)

  4) Players are expected to wear the appropriate practice gear (shirts, shorts, shin guards, and proper shoes) and may be denied participation if they fail to do so.

  5) All players must bring a properly inflated ball to practices and games unless instructed otherwise.

  6) Players should make every effort to arrive for practice on time and be ready for play when practice begins. Early is on time, and on time is late!

B. Games

  1) Players are expected to arrive and be ready for warm ups at least 40 minutes prior to kickoff or as designated by the staff coach.

  2) Players should be outfitted in the appropriate uniform apparel as determined by their coach. However, all players should bring all uniforms to every game.

  3) At the Division I level, playing time is earned, and is not guaranteed. This is strictly a coaching decision and parents should trust that the staff is acting in the best interest of the team. At the Division II and Super II each player is allowed fifty percent playing time.
