Yes, all players are guaranteed to play at least 50% of every game at the recreational, Jr. Academy, DIII & DII level. If your child plays for a DI team, play time is earned based off school academics and performances during practices. These rules are made by our Technical Director to help enforce education and the children to achieve excellence and future scholarships with colleges.

Why haven’t I heard from my child’s coach? Will the season start soon?
Coach meetings for the fall season will be in mid-September and mid-February for the spring season. At this time, rosters will be handed out and coaches will begin contacting their players to line up practice, schedule parent meetings, distribute uniforms, etc. If we do not have a coach for your child’s team, you will get a call from our Recreational Coaching Director asking if you will volunteer. Please consider helping if you are able, as we are always in need of coaches. If you volunteer, we will ask you to get your coaching license at the US Soccer Digital Coaching Center and follow up with us after you have completed the course.
Where are games played?
U4–U14 recreational kids play all their games at Ransom’s Sports Fields. U11–U14 Travel Teams play 5 home games (Ransom’s) and 5 away games. Most of their games will be played either at Meyer Park, The Woodlands, Conroe, Dyess, or Huntsville. Jr. Academy game locations are TBD.
How are teams formed?
We form teams by age group, neighborhood and school. Your child will be grouped with other children of the same age that live in your neighborhood and attend the same school. It is a great way to get to know other families in your neighborhood.
How do you find coaches? How do I become a coach?
Most of our coaches are parents of players. If we don’t have a parent volunteer, we will try to recruit one and have one of our trainers work with the team until we find one. If you would like to coach, please denote that on the online registration form.

This progression of “small–sided” games at the younger and recreational ages is endorsed and recommended by our Technical Director, Jarsi Ibanez to help develop kids faster by playing the game in a smaller environment. Fewer players on the field at younger ages allow for accelerated development, increased number of ball touches, and it fosters a love and excitement for the game. As children grow, more players are added to the field and the size of the field becomes larger. Montgomery Soccer Club teaches a progression of tactics and strategies that are age appropriate. By age 13, skills are developed to a sophisticated level. This approach has and will continue developed excellent athletes while making a fun and loving environment for soccer in the community.

What if my child is unable to make every practice or game?
We understand there will be times your child is unable to make a practice or game, which is why we put extra players on each team. However, if it is a reoccurring problem, please let us know what we may be able to do to help you make it to at least the soccer games - like changing the game times. please let your coach know when your child will be absent for practices or games so that they may plan better for the rest of the week.
What is the online registration convenience fee?
The software we use to process online registrations (DICK’s HQ) adds a convenience fee to your total when you pay by credit/debit card. This fee goes directly to DICK’s HQ; we do not receive any portion of it. There is no additional fee if you pay by check (mail or drop off), or if you pay by cash. However, keep in mind your child is not registered until the money is received.
