Assessments for CAPS, Minors, and Majors

Hello MCLL Families,

Murphy Canyon Little League will be hosting player evaluations, also known as assessments, on January 21st and January 28th at Damato Park.  Player evaluations are a requirement for all eligible players in the Caps, Minors, and Major divisions.  All players are required to attend at least one of the evaluation sessions in order for the Managers and MCLL Board of Directors to properly assess the ability of each player.

If a player cannot attend either one of the evaluations and provides notification, prior to that is accepted by the board of directors, the candidate may be waived of the requirement and be placed on a team. If a player is absent from both evaluations without prior board approval, the child cannot play in the league AT ANY LEVEL for that season.

We will be evaluating each player in 5 functional areas.

     (1) Batting/bunting

     (2) Fielding fly balls

     (3) Fielding ground balls

     (4) Throwing and catching

     (5) Running (with children near the same league age).

Each skill will be graded on a 1-5 scale with a total of score of 25 points is the highest rating possible. Players with a final score of 15 through 25 points are considered eligible for drafting onto a major team if space is available.

Please have your player show up with their motivation, ball cap, baseball pants, safety cup, cleats, glove, and water. We will provide some equipment, but we highly encourage that each players brings their own helmet and bats.
