Sabino Canyon Little League

        2020 Assessment Information

Hey, SCLL Families!

Superbowl is over.  Now who's ready for some BASEBALLLLLLL!!!!!

We are close to the start of the season which means assessment time.  Here we go, here we go.

Assessment times at Udall Field 3, we will not be offering a make up assessment, please make every effort to attend.  Given the NEW SCLL, we have a few changes this year to improve the SCLL experience.

Saturday Feb 15th

Your only chance!

All AAA and Major Division players must attend.

9am – 10am – Fields and cages open for warmups, come get your player ready.  We will have front toss in the cages to knock the ol’ dust off.  Please take advantage.

10am – 11:30am – Player assessments

11:30am – 12:30pm – Catcher/Pitchers – Optional but encouraged

Assessments give coaches a quick snap shot of the players ability.  This year we are going to change things up a little to allow for a better picture of overall ability and athleticism as well as take a little pressure off the “Solo” performance by moving in small groups.

  1. Ground balls from all infield positions, small groups and hit live
  2. Grounders, line drives and routine flyballs in all outfield positions, small groups and hit live
  3. Front toss batting on-field – live toss – no machine
  4. Base-running drill by age group
  5. Optional pitching and catching – flat ground, small groups.

All players that are looking play AAA or Majors.

Example #1any returning player to AAA or Major divisions must assess for the coaches to draft teams properly come on out and show it off.

Example #2, if the player was in AA last spring and is now looking to enter AAA they must be at assessments to move up.

Example #3if the player was AA last spring but played AAA in the fall, does the player have to assess to advance to AAA?  The answer is YES, divisions are based on spring ball.

Example #4player was AAA last year and wishes to advance to majors, YES the player must assess.

The most important thing to bring is a “can do” attitude.  SCLL is committed to inclusive baseball for all levels.  Lets DO THIS!!!!!!!!!

  1. Your player
  2. Water
  3. Players Glove
  4. Hat
  5. Athletic clothing
  6. Running shoes or cleats – can be baseball, soccer, football. Please no metal spikes.

Optional equipment

  1. Baseball pants/belt – please don’t be the player without the belt.
  2. Bat
  3. Helmet
