LYSA basketball is back for the 2023-2024 winter season!
This program consists of four levels and areas of focus:
PreK/Kindergarten = INTRODUCTION
1st/2nd grade = INSTRUCTION
3rd/4th grade = DEVELOPMENT
5th/6th grade = COMPETITION
Of course, all of the areas of focus overlap, but these are the tenants of learning the game and ultimately having fun!

3rd to 6th grade Youth Basketball League
Commitment: 2-3 nights/week for ~16 weeks (Practice twice per week prior to games. Then practice 1-2 times per week plus games on Saturdays.)
This developmental (3rd/4th grades) and competitive (5th/6th grades) youth basketball league features 5-on-5 play against members of the Mid-Continent Sports Association--West Platte (Weston), Dekalb, Mid-Buchanan (Faucett), North Platte (Dearborn), Platte County (Platte City), Smithville, Plattsburg, Lathrop, and East Buchanan (Gower).
This league is split by gender and grade. The season is 8 games and may or may not have an end of the year tournament. The rules are different from the past so please read them! 3rd and 4th grade play on a 9ft goal and do not keep score. Games are played on Saturdays from December 2023 through February 2024.
Cost will be $100 for your first child and $85 for each additional child belonging to the same guardian.

3rd-6th Grade Basketball League Rules

Junior Flock: 1st & 2nd grade basketball
Commitment: 1 night/week for 6 weeks.
Dates: Thursdays, January 25th through February 29th, 2024.
Times: Each session will be 50-70 mins in duration between 5:45 PM & 8:45 PM. Schedule TBD.
Location: Lawson Middle School
Practice with coaches, followed by officiated 3-on-3 games to help with instruction. Possibility of mixed-gender teams depending on registration. Open to all children currently in 1st or 2nd grades.

Dates: Mondays, February 5th through March 4th, 2024.
Times: Each session will be 45-60 mins in duration between 5:45 PM & 8:45 PM. Schedule TBD.
Location: The Barker Center at Lawson High School
This opportunity is for all children from age 3 (having turned 3 by 1/1 of 2024) through age 5 or 6 (currently in Kindergarten) and is intended to introduce the game of basketball through a camp-style format, utilizing stations to learn fundamentals.

They are not exclusive to residents of the City of Lawson, Lawson R-XIV School District or any other limiting boundary.
