Tee-Ball

Tee-Ball Baseball is for boys and girls 4-5 years old (with a local option for 6-year-olds) who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In Tee-Ball, players hit a ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of Tee-Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork. Rosters may be composed of between 7 and 10 players, but most leagues have rosters in the 12-15 range. No live pitching is permitted in this division. Generally, the diamond used is a 60-foot diamond, but the league has the option to use a 50-foot diamond.

Practices are generally no longer than 1hr, twice a week until games start. Once games begin practice is usually once a week. Games will be twice a week with 1hr time limits, and will begin in March and complete in early May

Minors (Coach Pitch, AA & AAA)

Minor League Baseball programs for boys and girls may be operated within each division for younger players with less experience. The minor league may be players ages 6-12. Divisions may be established within the Minor League for "coach pitch" or "player pitch." By local option, a player who is league age 6 for the current season and has played a year in Tee Ball may be "moved up" to a coach pitch division. A local league might have its 7-year-olds in the Minor League Coach Pitch Division, while its 8-10-year-olds are in the Minor League Player Pitch Division. However, by local option, some of the 7-year-olds could "play up." This is entirely the choice of the local league board of directors. Rosters may be composed of between 10 and 12 players, but most leagues have rosters in the 12-15 range. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet. AAA division will require assessments to play at that level, any player interested in this level must attend a required assessment/try out prior to playing in AAA division.

Coach Pitch will generally practice for 1hr, twice a week until games begin. Once games begin practice is usually once a week. Games will be twice a week with 1hr time limits, and will begin in March and complete in early May.

AA Player Pitch teams will generally practice for 1hr to 1hr 30min, twice a week until games begin. Once games begin practice is usually once a week. Games will be twice a week with 1hr 30min possibly 1hr 45min - local league and inter-league rules would apply, and will begin in March and complete in early May.

AAA Player Pitch teams will generally practice for 1hr to 1hr 30min, twice a week until games begin. Once games begin practice is usually once a week. Games will be twice a week with 1hr 45min possibly 2hrs - local league and inter-league rules would apply, and will begin in March and complete in early May.

Little League Baseball (Majors)

The Little League Baseball Division (also known as the Major Division) is for boys and girls ages 9 -12. A local league may choose to limit its Major Division to 9-, 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds, or 11-12-year-olds. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.

Majors teams will generally practice for 1hr 30min to 2hrs, twice or more a week until games begin. Once games begin practice is usually once a week. Games will be twice a week with 1hr 45min possibly 2hrs - local league and inter-league rules would apply, and will begin in March and complete in early May.

Intermediate 50/70

The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division was introduced in January, 2010, as a pilot program for 12- and 13-year-olds which utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths.

Practices for 50/70 will start a little later, Mid-March. This division plays all across Tucson and is dependent on other leagues also forming teams to compete. Most leagues only form one team, or combines with another close league to form one team due to number of players. Games are generally 1hr 45min to 2hr long
