Whether your daughter has played organized softball in the past or not, you may have questions regarding our specific League or the upcoming season. I've attempted to put together some frequently asked questions to help provide more info and get you quicker answers.
Q: What equipment do I need to provide for my daughter?
A: Required equipment:
Glove - The age/size of your daughter impacts the size of the glove you need to get, if you're unsure please ask a coach or bring your daughter to a store like Dicks and ask a professional.
Fielding Mask - Here is an example of a fielding mask, but similar to the glove you need to fit it to your daughter specifically. Do not feel inclined to purchase the example, it's simply to show you an example of the equipment.
Black Baseball/Softball Pants
Baseball/Softball Cleats
Recommender but not required: Helmet and Bat
Your coach will have extra as needed if you do not have a helmet or bat
Batting Helmet - Here is an example of a batting helmet, it must have a facemask on the front. Age and size once again impact the size of the helmet you need, if you're unsure please ask a coach or bring your daughter to a store like Dicks and ask a professional. Tball/AA age players grow so quickly, that an adjustable helmet like the example is a big help. Do not feel inclined to purchase the example, it's simply to show you an example of the equipment.
Fastpitch Softball Bat - Age and size once again impact the size of the bat you need, if you're unsure please ask a coach or bring your daughter to a store like Dicks and ask a professional.
Q: When does the season start?
A: Our season will begin in April, exact dates depend on when Wallingford Park & Recreation release the fields to us. Winter Workouts begin in January and March (depending on age group) and run through March for those looking for extra practice.
Q: What are Winter Workouts?
A: Winter Workouts are optional 1 hour sessions that we provide for players during the offseason to give opportunities to players to hone their skills, working on or learning fundamentals of softball.
Q: When is Opening Day?
A: Opening Day will always be the last Saturday of April with a rain date being the last Sunday of April.
Q: What is Opening Day?
A: Opening Day is an opportunity for us to recognize each player and team, get individual and team pictures taken, and celebrate the beginning of a new season.
Q: When is my first game?
A: Majors and AAA usually begin games before Opening Day. AA and Tball will have their first game on Opening Day with a practice before Opening Day.
Q: When are games?
A: Scheduling is always very challenging as we're dealing with several teams, different sports and teams schedules, etc. With that said, schedules are usually done by the beginning of April for AAA and Majors teams. We try to keep it to the same days of the week to help with families scheduling multiple activities.
As of Spring of 2024: AA and Majors are on Tuesdays and Thursday, TeeBall is on Mondays and Fridays
