Skills Coach - Avery Secola

Avery is from Hinsdale,Illinois, where she graduated from Hinsdale Central High School and was a part of a State Championship winning in 2018, Runner-up her sophomore year (2019), and took third place her senior year (2021).  Avery played club lacrosse from fifth grade to the end of her Junior year. With her time playing club lacrosse she played at countless college recruit camps and tournaments. Some of Avery’s athletic honorable mentions are: making the Under Armour 150 team (2018), playing for Under Armour All-American Southwest Underclass team (2018-2019), and playing in the US Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament (2018). Avery is currently a Sophomore at Arizona State University studying Marketing at the W.P. Carey School of Business.

What Avery hopes to achieve through these clinics: “I want these girls to better understand the game of lacrosse. How I will do that is through drills that target specific skills. When it comes to offense we will work on two-man drills, feeds, keeping our head up in the 8 meter, shot placement, and more. As for defense, we will work on a proper defensive stance, re-defending on the run, defense on the crease, defensive tricks on an 8 meter shot, re-defending on a goalie clear, and the list goes on. Since I also grew up playing as a midfielder and took the draw, I’m also able to offer the girls some tips and tricks on the draw (i.e. direction of the ball, push, pull, draw stance). My goal here is for these girls to not only understand the sport better but also to have fun and be able to take away everything I teach them and continue to use it in their seasons to come!
