Children from ages 4 to 16 years old can join Little League! With several age-specific divisions, there are fun, competitive baseball and softball opportunities for both boys and girls who join Gilroy Little League. We even host a Challenger division for kids with physical and/or mental disabilities that want to learn and have fun!
To maintain fairness and consistency, ages are strictly determined by Little League International rules, and are referred to as "League Age". To determine a player’s League Age, please refer to the chart here:

Little League’s Baseball and Softball divisions do have slight differences regarding the age classification of players. Based on the number of players registering to play in a given season, each local league has the option to adjust the age groupings of the players in their league, in accordance with Little League rules and regulations. This allows all participants, from Tee Ball to our Senior League, to have a fun, meaningful experience.
We strongly recommend that you register your child for the appropriate division based on their League Age. If you feel their skills deem them eligible to "Play Up" (i.e. in the division above the default league age division), they will have a chance to do so during Player Evaluations in January. This "challenge up" decision is the sole discretion of the VP of Baseball and/or Softball, the decision is made based on player skill, sportsmanship, and team configuration.
