Redding-Easton Football (REF) is a non-profit, age-based Pop Warner tackle football organization for young athletes of Easton and Redding in the 3rd to 8th grade. REF is affiliated with and a proud supporter of Joel Barlow High School Football.
REF is a member of Southern Connecticut Pop Warner (SCPW). SCPW is a non-profit football and cheer league that has been in existence for over 40 years. SCPW consists of 20 cities and towns from Fairfield, Hartford and New Haven counties. The mission of all Pop Warner organizations is “to enable children to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that children will use throughout their lives”.
SCPW schedules games within the regular season, which traditionally begins Labor Day weekend. Post-season scheduling is based on a team's performance.
REF practices are held at Vet's Field in Easton behind the Easton Community Center. REF will try to hold at least one Friday evening practice during the school year at Joel Barlow High School so the players can attend the high school game afterwards to support Joel Barlow Football. Prior to the start of school year, practices typically run Mon-Thu in the early evening. After the school year starts, practice no more than three days a week. Practice times and location are subject to change based on weather cancellations and at the coaches' discretion. Home games will be played on the turf field at Joel Barlow High School or at Vet's Park in Easton, if the turf field is not available.
