At CYFFA, we believe strongly in fostering good sportsmanship among all our athletes. We prioritize fair play, respect, and integrity, and we encourage our young athletes to embody these values both on and off the field. Our flag football league aims to help develop well-rounded individuals who are equipped with the skills and values needed to succeed in all aspects of their lives.

Sportsmanship is an essential element of youth sports. Young athletes who participate in sports with good sportsmanship develop a sense of responsibility, accountability, self-discipline, and self-confidence. They learn to accept challenges and develop resilience in the face of setbacks.

Good sportsmanship involves respecting opponents, coaches, and officials, playing with integrity, and being gracious in both victory and defeat. It promotes fair play, teamwork, and a positive attitude, which are valuable life skills that youth athletes can carry into their adult lives.

To recognize the importance of good sportsmanship, several years ago, we implemented player and team sportsmanship awards. Referees nominate players who demonstrate excellent sportsmanship during gameplay for the weekly player awards, and at the end of the year one team per division that demonstrates excellent sportsmanship over the entire season is nominated for the team sportsmanship award. These awards encourage our young athletes to prioritize good sportsmanship and serve as a reminder of the values we aim to instill in all our athletes.
