About Us

We are the largest youth football & cheer organization in the CSRA.

EGPW was established in 2012 with the vision to become an integral part of our tight-knit school families and communities. Last season, we celebrated our 12th Anniversary with over 1,200 athletes and over 300 volunteers. Each Association is catered to its community and is filled with dedicated volunteers who devote countless hours nearly year-round to the families in their Association.

Why Pop Warner Little Scholars

SCHOLASTICS!

More than just athletes! – Pop Warner is the only national youth sports organization in America that requires its participants to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play. We are dedicated to fostering the development of scholar-athletes by placing a strong emphasis on academics alongside athletic achievement. Unlike many youth sports programs, Pop Warner requires participants to meet strict academic standards to participate, ensuring that education remains a top priority. The program celebrates the achievements of its participants both on and off the field, recognizing excellence in the classroom through its All-American Scholar Program. By promoting a balanced approach to sports and education, Pop Warner instills discipline, time management, and a commitment to academic success in its young athletes, preparing them for future opportunities in both academics and athletics.

Safety

EGPW prioritizes the safety and well-being of its athletes across football, cheer, and dance, implementing comprehensive measures to create a secure environment. The organization adheres to strict safety protocols, including age-appropriate play guidelines, mandatory background checks for coaches, and limits on contact in practices to minimize the risk of injury. Pop Warner also partners with medical experts to educate coaches, parents, and athletes on concussion awareness and injury prevention, emphasizing the importance of proper technique and equipment. For cheer, dance, and lacrosse, safety standards include supervised training, spotters for stunts, and certified instructors to ensure activities are performed responsibly. Through these efforts, Pop Warner reinforces its commitment to providing a safe and positive experience for all participants.

Stability & Community

Within EGPW we place a strong emphasis on stability and community involvement, fostering an environment where young athletes can grow and thrive both on and off the field. The organization is built on the foundation of long-standing relationships with local communities, ensuring consistency and support for participants and their families. By encouraging community engagement through volunteerism, mentorship, and local partnerships, Pop Warner creates a sense of belonging and shared purpose. The program also instills values of teamwork, respect, and civic responsibility, teaching participants to give back to their communities. This focus on stability and community involvement not only strengthens the organization’s impact but also helps young athletes develop into well-rounded, socially conscious individuals.

Our Season & Developpment

Our football, Cheer & Dance season is designed to provide young athletes with a well-structured and developmental experience, balancing competition and personal growth. The season typically begins with pre-season practices in early to mid-summer, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and safety training. Once the season kicks off, teams play a series of games within the EGPW association leading up to regional and national championships, offering players the chance to showcase their abilities while adhering to age-based divisions that ensure fair competition. The team structure is carefully organized by age to promote safety and balanced play, allowing athletes of similar physical size and maturity to compete together. This approach fosters skill development, camaraderie, and confidence among players.

We also emphasizes the development of our coaches, requiring them to complete extensive training and certification programs. Coaches are educated in safety protocols, effective coaching techniques, and player development to ensure they create a positive and nurturing environment. Additionally, every coach is required to undergo a thorough background check to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. The organization’s Mandatory Play Rule (MPR) ensures that all players, regardless of skill level, have the opportunity to participate in every game. This rule promotes inclusivity, teamwork, and equal opportunity for growth, reinforcing the values of sportsmanship and fair play. By focusing on structured development, equitable participation, and skilled coaching, Pop Warner creates a football, cheer and dance experience that prioritizes both athletic and personal growth for young athletes.
