At 1st grade, your child is now eligible to compete in the summer tournament season. Being the youngest age group, this is new to most families unless they have older children. The summer tournament season is a great way to continue playing throughout the summer while competing on neighboring municipal fields with increased competition.
For 7U, teams will typically practice 1 to 2 times per week. We expect that our group will play in 3-4 tournaments throughout the summer. The first tournament will likely be the weekend after the Spring HAA in-house season ends.
All of the tournaments are within 1 hour of Hampton. The cost to play is typically +/- $40 per kid, per tournament. We will also have approximately $75 in up front costs for uniforms.
Our main intention for sending this email out now is to gauge interest with this age group. The most we can roster for a tournament is typically 12. Pending the number of sign ups, we may have to hold tryouts to select a team. We are asking that anyone interested sign up as soon as possible with a deadline of May 1st. If we have more than 12 signups, we will hold tryouts the following weekend.
Tournament baseball is not for everyone, as it requires more commitment than spring and fall in house. From our experience, we can tell you that it is a lot of fun for both the kids and parents. Your player, other siblings, and parents will engage in great friendships with other families throughout the district over the summer.
