How can I volunteer in WLL?
Manager/Head Coach; You are the lead person, managing every aspect of your team. We have resources for you! Check here for online resources. Background checks needed.
Assistant Coach: You follow the manager's lead and support them in their decisions for the team and help at bases, line up, and during practice. Background checks needed.
Umpire: Behind the plate on in the field, you have to know the rules. We will train you! Online resources available too. Background checks needed.
Team Parent: Of course all moms, dads, guardians, are all team parents. But in the WLL world, a Team Parent is designated parent who helps out the manager/head coach with details such as collecting raffle ticket stubs, handing out forms, assigning other parents a slot to help out as a volunteer. These Team Parents may also coordinate team events, media announcements, take pictures, pick up uniforms, and be another link to the WLL Board. Background checks needed.
Field Maintenance: Helping with maintaining the fields we use as well as field prep and field closing. Want to mow? We can use that help too!
Scorekeeper/Pressbox: You have a voice and do you like to play music? Depending on field set up, we might need you! Can you keep an official score book? We can use you too! How to keep score.
WLL Board Member: All WLL Board members are volunteers. The WLL board meets 2xs a month and are expected at all WLL league events. Roles include President, Executive VP, Secretary, Treasurer, Information Officer, Level VPs, Field Maintenance Coordinator, Sponsorship, Fundraising, Safety Officer, Team parent coordinator, Umpire in Chief, Equipment manager, and Player Agent. Background checks needed.
Parent of a Player: Encourage your child and others. Reinforce the skills your kids learn by practicing at home; when you do, make sure you’re reinforcing the same skills and techniques that their coaches are teaching them. Take advantage of clinics. Take your child to the batting cages. Buy an instructional book or video. Watch high school, college and big league games in person or TV. Keep things fun and take cues from your child. Follow the Code of Conduct!
HOW DO I SIGN UP and get my Background checks? WHAT'S NEXT?
The Volunteer Application and PA Background Clearance Check are links, please click to access.
When filling out the volunteer application please include your Social Security Number. It is needed to complete the mandatory Little League background check. We will be calling you if your SSN is not included on your volunteer application and you will have to give it over the phone. We will also need a copy of your Driver’s License.
All volunteers are also required to complete the PA Background Clearance Checks. Great news - Once the clearances are completed they are good for 5 years! If you have been a PA resident continuously for the past 10 years you will need to complete a PA Criminal Clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and the signed Disclaimer. If you have not been a resident continuously for the past 10 years you will need to complete a PA State Police Criminal check, PA Child Abuse Check, and a FBI Background Criminal Check (fingerprint check).
