General Equipment
All players across all age groups should bring the following equipment to every practice and game:
- Cleats
- Fast pitch softball bat (not baseball bat)
- Glove/mitt
- Batting helmet with attached face mask
- Softball face mask - examples here
- Water bottle
If players are using the pitching machine during practice they should bring a non-composite practice bat.
Here are some guidelines from our coaching staff for choosing the correct bat size and weight and for the appropriate glove and practice ball sizes.
8U Players
Bat size range should be between 25-28 inches long. The weight of the bat is determined by the drop on the bat (-10, -11, -12, or -13 refers to the weight in ounces of the bat). For example, if a bat is 28 inches long with a -13 drop, that means it weighs 15 ounces (28-13=15). -13 is the largest drop currently on bats. The lighter the bat is the easier it is for the player to swing.
Glove size should be 10 1/2 or 11.
Player will use 11” incrediballs (soft shell ball). More advanced players can use an 11” hard shell ball
10U players
Bat size should be between 28-30 inches long depending on the height of the player. Composite bats are best.
Glove size should be 11, 11 1/2, or 12 (tallest players only should have 12).
Games will be played with a 11” hard shell ball
Batting gloves are recommended
12U players
Bat size should be between 30-32 inches long depending on the height of the player.
Glove size should be 12 or 12 1/2.
Games will be played with a 12” hard shell ball
Batting gloves are recommended
