Scarsdale Travel Softball is looking to expand the program at the 10U level. STS is looking for a Head Coach and Assistant Coach for one travel team in this age group. The Fall season schedule is Sept 1 - Nov 1; and the Spring Season is April 1 to June 20. Team selection for the Fall is in June, and team selection for the spring/annual programs is in October of the prior year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with STS board to develop and coordinate team schedules including scheduling games and practices
Preparation and running of all practices 2x per week per team
Attend and coach travel games based on schedule (1-2 games per team per weekend)
Assists tryout and team selection
Attends regularly scheduled coaches meetings with the STS board.
Responsible for the care and maintenance of sport equipment.
Maintains a professional relationship with student-athletes, parents and STS board members
Perform routine maintenance on the softball field, including weekly safety inspections and testing of essential equipment.
Willingness to accept other duties for the program as assigned (parent meetings, Family Fun Day as examples)
REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Candidate should have a strong working knowledge of the sport and ability to effectively teach and explain the sport and the strategies involved.
Minimum of 3-5 years of coaching experience. Head Coach must have a minimum of 8 years of coaching experience.
Assertive, motivated, outgoing and resourceful with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor while working in a fast-paced environment.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Effective coaching & communication for 8-11 year olds
Excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with campus constituents.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Required to travel and work nights, weekends and some holidays dependant on the team schedule
Basic computer skills and good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to exercise ethics and maintain confidentiality.
