About Mandarin Athletic Association
Mandarin Athletic Association (MAA) is one of Jacksonville’s oldest and well established youth sports organizations—A non-profit, premier athletic association that offers year-round football, cheer, and lacrosse for young athletes in the Greater Jacksonville area. Consisting of approximately 1,500 young athletes from age five to fourteen, we have been teaching football, cheer, flag football and lacrosse for more than 40 years in Mandarin. MAA mentors our young athletes on the importance of academics, team work, confidence, respect, honesty, and fair play. We also emphasize the importance of having a joyful experience that isn’t necessary based on winning and being the best athlete on the field, rather doing one’s best. This is all accomplished through the endless commitment of our volunteer coaches and volunteers.
MAA is an official Pop Warner Football association located at Greenland Park on the Jacksonville’s southside since1984. MAA’s football program has produced two National Championships, four Southeast Regional Championships, and 15 Greater Jacksonville City Championships. MAA cheerleading has also earned numerous national championships in cheer and dance over the park’s 40 + years. MAA's Youth Lacrosse program has earned 2 Championships at 2 elite tournaments. We consider coaching as one of the most important parts of our youth and team’s success.
MAA offers numerous youth sports all year long such as Flag football, Spring 8-on-8 tackle football, cheerleading, Spring, Summer, and Fall lacrosse, conditioning camps, youth Rugby, and Friday Night Lights football with local area high schools, Pop Warner football, and special events with other organizations in our community. This has not only helped MAA become a premier youth sports park, but a year-round community sports park.
Mission Statement
Mandarin Athletic Association provides opportunities for personal and athletic growth and encourages youth development in football, lacrosse, baseball, cheerleading, and rugby. Our athletic association promotes sportsmanship, self-confidence, academics, and the development of life skills through youth competitive sports. While providing a safe, healthy, positive environment where the youth of our community can learn the fundamentals of competitive sports.
Our Philosophy
Mandarin Athletic Association works 3 areas:
- SAFETY
- Participation over competition
- Education over performance
We strive to insure that all participants get equal time in play. We expect our coaches to maintain a safe and positive environment. Win and Loses are not how we judge our coaches success rate. Mandarin's success rate is based on if a player returns to the program because they are learning and having fun. Above all, we will remember that this activity is for "the kids". It is our philosophy to provide a strong emphasis on the core fundamentals of youth sports.
