Tee Ball Program

Tee Ball Program (Ages 4-6)

Overview
Often a family’s first introduction to Little League, providing a Tee Ball experience that is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals is key to growing a child’s love for the game. Players will learn the basics of baseball and team sports, including how to throw, catch, hit, run the bases, and interact with peers. Each player on a team who is present will be placed in the batting order. All players are allowed to play in the field in each inning. When a team comes to the plate, each batter will be allowed to hit regardless of outs. When the final player is up to bat, the ball needs to get to the catcher to end the inning. Coaches are allowed on the field to aid the players. Scores and standings are not to be kept in Tee-Ball. Players cannot advance on overthrows. No Stealing. On defense, players are to be constantly rotated and all are to be on the field. A parent from each team will be asked by the coach to perform dugout duty during games.

Necessary Gear
Bats, helmets, shirts and hats will be provided (pants and socks are not provided). Your child will need a baseball/softball glove and long pants (no shorts at practices or games). The pants don’t need to be formal baseball/softball pants, but if you do want to purchase these, white or grey is the best color. Rubber cleats are fine, but not required. Many players use soccer cleats for baseball (note that you can’t use baseball cleats for soccer).

Format for Season:
All players will practice at the same time, together, regardless of “team assignment.” Practices will be run “clinic style.” Numerous stations will be set up across the facility and “teams” will rotate through the stations. All players will receive the same great level of instruction and encouragement, regardless of team assignment. Multiple fields will be used to keep the players moving, learning, engaged and having fun. The practices will be based on the activities described in the little league tee ball program guide (download a copy here: http://www.littleleague.org/Assets/forms_pubs/TeeBallGuide.pdf).
