 Divisions

T-Ball
T-Ball is an instructional level of Little League for boys and girls league ages 4 - 6. The focus of T-Ball is on teaching the players how to play in a team sports environment while learning the basics of baseball fundamentals. Score is not kept in this division. Teams are formed by school zone/neighborhood as much as possible. We try to accommodate requests for carpools or friends only. T Ball teams usually have 2 events a week. They may be on weeknights or Saturday. No Sunday games.

 Machine Pitch Baseball
Machine Pitch is an instructional level of Little League for boys and girls league ages 6 - 8. Machine Pitch builds upon fielding skills taught in T-Ball and teaches players to hit a machine pitched baseball. Strikes and outs are recorded but balls and walks are not counted. Games are scheduled 6 innings and score is kept in this division. Teams are formed by school zone/neighborhood as much as possible. We try to accommodate requests for carpools or friends only. MP teams usually have 2 events a week. They may be on weeknights or Saturday. No Sunday games.

 Minor American Baseball
Minor American is the first baseball division where players pitch. It is a part of the Little League Minors Division with 6 inning games played on a 60' diamond. All players remain part of the batting lineup throughout the game in what is called a continuous batting order. It is an instructional level of Little League for boys and girls ages 8-10. Players will be placed on teams based on the skill level exhibited during Skills Evaluation Day. At SED, all participants are given an average score compiled from the scores of the evaluating managers and placing the same number of equally talented players on each team then forms teams. We also try to give each team a balanced number of each age group, as well as an equitable number of “experienced” and “inexperienced” players. The division coordinator forms teams not the team managers. 8-year old wishing to play in this division must attend skills evaluation and score well enough for placement. Following the spring season, there is Fun Tournament play.
NO REQUESTS CAN BE TAKEN IN MINORS.

 Minor National Baseball
Minor National is a part of the Little League Minors Division with 6 inning games played on a 60' diamond. All players remain part of the batting lineup throughout the game in what is called a continuous batting order. It is an instructional level of Little League that focuses on preparing players for entering the Majors Division. All 11-year old not selected onto a Major team will play in this division. 10-year old and a few 9-year old will fill out the rosters. The division coordinator forms teams not the team managers. Following the spring season, there is All-Star & Fun Tournament play.
NO REQUESTS CAN BE TAKEN IN MINORS.

 Major Baseball
Little League Majors Division is the Little League division known simply as "Little League" with 6 inning games played on a 60' diamond. This is the first baseball division with 9 player batting lineups and lineup substitutions. All 10-12 year old who have participated in the Skills Evaluation process are eligible for consideration for the Major Division. In this division, the team managers draft teams. Teams are formed solely on the managers’ selections of players they wish to select for their team, based on their team’s needs. As per Little League rules, each player selected to a Major team will remain on that team from year to year, until he/she becomes too old for that division. In this way, some teams have more “openings” each year than others. The draft takes place confidentially each year and team managers take turns picking players until their allotted slots are filled. Players not selected for a Major team are then placed on teams, based on their scores, in the Minor divisions. The rosters consist of league age 12-year old's, 11-year old's and a few 10-year old's. Following the spring season, there is All-Star & Fun Tournament play.

 Junior League Baseball
Junior division is for player league age 13 - 14. It is the first division in Little League that plays on a 90-foot field. All players remain part of the batting lineup throughout the game. Games may be played against other area District 9 & District 10 teams. Games are scheduled 7 innings. Teams are formed via a draft. Following the spring season, there is All-Star Tournament play based on a player’s age.

Senior League Baseball
Senior division is for player league age 14 - 16.  Games may be played against other area District 9 & District 10 teams. Senior baseball is played on a full size diamond and scheduled for 7 innings. Teams are formed via a draft. Following the spring season, there is All-Star Tournament play based on a player’s age.

DTQ Little League Tournament Teams
All of our Minor and Major Baseball players age 8-12 yrs. old are eligible to participate in either the Little League All Star (if selected) or District 9 Fun Tournament. Players that are league age 13-16 may only be considered for All Stars.

District 9 All Stars:
Eligible players must have participated in at least 60% of their regular season team’s games.
DTQ has 5 All-Star Teams for the following age groups:

8-10 yr. All-Stars – Any Major or Minor player league age 8, 9 or 10 is a possible candidate.

11 yr. All-Stars – Any Major or Minor player league age 11 is a possible candidate.

12 yr. All-Stars – Any Major player league age 12 is a possible candidate.

Junior League All-Stars – Any Junior or Senior League player league age 13 or 14 is a possible candidate.

Senior League All-Stars – Any Senior League player league age 15 or 16 is a possible candidate.

While it is a great honor to be a member of an All-Star team, there is also a substantial commitment of time, effort, & travel required in order to participate. The All-Star season ends whenever tournament competition ends. The goal is for teams to progress as far into tournament play as possible. For the 8-10 and 11 year old teams, tournament play could continue through the completion of the Virginia State Tournament in late-July. For the 12 year old, Junior and Senior League teams, tournament play could continue through mid-August when the World Series takes place (12 in Williamsport PA, Junior League in Taylor MI, and Senior League in SC). The All-Star time commitment consists of several practices a week beginning around June 8th and then participation in the District 9 All-Star tournaments beginning about June 20th and running for about 12-14 days. Players are expected to attend ALL team practices. Per Little League rules the minimum play time for a team with 13 players is 1 at-bat, and no defensive outs. No minimum play rule for SR League.

 District 9 Fun Tournament:
There are two levels of play in the Fun Tournament. Leagues may have multiple teams at each age group.

Age 10 and under Fun Tournament

Age 12 and under Fun Tournament

The typical commitment for a Fun tournament player will be practices starting around June 10th and continuing with tournament games starting about June 18th and running for about 7 days. These games will be played against teams from leagues outside of DTQ. Some travel will be involved.

PLEASE let your team manager know YES or NO by May 25, 2020 if your child will be participating. They will be compiling a list to summit to the league. You may also email your choice to the league. [email protected]
