SC Lions Cheer is a recreational program meant to serve as an introduction to cheerleading fundamentals: motions, jumps, chants, cheers, dancing, stunting and tumbling. We kick off the season with Camp Week in early August. Games will be held on Sundays September-October and our season concludes with a competition in early November. We typically participate in other fun events throughout the fall like SCASD's Homecoming parade, a State High Friday night football game and some unique opportunities at PSU if/when they become available.
At SC Lions we work very hard to foster and develop the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity, leadership, self-discipline, and respect for others in a positive, safe, and encouraging environment. SC Lions Cheerleaders are expected to BE-Responsible, Respectful, Safe, and Present at all times, practice, games, parades, competition, etc.
Practice
Cheer practices will be held at Haymarket Park, Nissan Field, and a SCASD elementary gym. Practice times and locations will vary by year and by squad based on our numbers and coach availability. You can expect bi-weekly practices of 45-60 mins for Flag squads and 60-90 mins for Pee Wee and SR squads.
Uniform Fitting and Distribution
All cheerleaders will need to be fitted for uniforms. Each participant will be issued the following items that will need to be returned at the end of the season: Uniform (Shell, Liner, and Skirt), Pom-poms, and a Warm-up Jacket. Bows and briefs are provided for each cheerleader to keep.
Each participant is expected to purchase white athletic sneakers. A Sneaker Swap will be available during uniform distribution each summer.
Fees
All Cheer divisions are $185 during regular registration. Fees include your concession donation as well as uniform and accessories (bow and briefs). No need to pay additional fees during the year! We do ask for your participation in working the concession stand for one or more shifts during the season as many hands make light work!
