SAFETY is of the utmost importance to the SC Lions program. So much that it comes before all other considerations, including winning games or competitions. The SC Lions will not put any football player or cheerleader in an unsafe environment to win a game, win a competition or to guarantee their participation in any competitive event. All football players and cheerleaders will be evaluated throughout the season to ensure their development is achieved for their respective level of competition.
To further this important focus on SAFETY, the SC Lions have completed a few recent important initiatives to help provide a safer environment for participation.
· New cheer tumbling mats to use as the cheer squad develops their stunting and tumbling skills.
· Mandatory use of Guardian helmet covers to help reduce the occurrence of repetitive contact head injuries during practices.
· Acquisition of AEDs – through a partnership with Geisinger Health System, we were able to acquire 3 AEDs to have at the primary field and tackle practice locations. We hope to never utilize this equipment, but it will be available if needed.
