Rules

Please note that Livingston Little League follows the official Little League rule book governing our play.  In addition to those rules, we have some local league rules we added as well to help the kids develop their baseball skills while having fun and enjoying the game!

General League Rules for All Divisions:

1.       All bats must be placed on a bat rack – no bats should be kept in the dugout - there is no on deck hitter with bat at any field.

2.       All bats must have the appropriate USABat approval sticker.  Bats will not be permitted to be used if they are not approved by meeting the USA Baseball Bat standards for Little League.

3.   There is no leading until the ball crosses home plate.

4.       All coaches and volunteers must fill out a volunteer form on the Livingston Little League website.  No one will not be allowed on the field or in the dugout without a background check.

5.       Every player in attendance will be in the batting lineup.

6.       Every player must sit out at least once (except pitcher and catcher) prior to another player on the team sitting a second inning.

A Division - 9s

1.       No infield fly rule

2.       No bunting

3.       6 runs max per inning, 6th inning unlimited

4.       No dropped 3rd strike

5.       Can steal 3rd base, runner cannot advance on overthrow

6.       On batted balls, overthrows can only lead to a 1 base advancement from the original play

7.       Time limit 2 hours, no new inning after 1 hour 45 minutes (WEEKEND GAMES ONLY)

8.       Once the light goes on for darkness the game ends immediately

9.       4 total coaches, all must fill out volunteer form

AA Division - 10s

1.       6 runs max per inning, 6th inning unlimited

2.       No dropped 3rd strike

3.       Can steal 2nd and 3rd base, runner cannot advance on overthrow

4.       Time limit 2 hours, no new inning after 1 hour 45 minutes (WEEKEND GAMES ONLY)

5.       Once the light goes on for darkness the game ends immediately

6.       4 total coaches, all must fill out volunteer form

Major National Division - 11s

1.       No dropped 3rd strike  

2.       Can steal 2nd and 3rd base, runner may not advance on overthrow

3.       Time limit 2 hours, no new inning after 1 hour 45 minutes (WEEKEND GAMES ONLY)

4.       Once the light goes on for darkness the game ends immediately

5.       4 total coaches, all must fill out volunteer form



Major American Division - 12s

1.       Dropped 3rd strike rule applies

2.       Can steal 2nd, 3rd, and home, runners may advance on an overthrow

3.       Delayed stealing is allowed as long as the pitcher is not on the mound and timeout has not been granted by the umpire

4.       All games must be played to completion, according to little league guidelines, 4 innings is an official game.  If still tied, the game is played until there is a winner as there is no time limit.  

5.       There are mercy rules - 12 run lead after 4 innings and 10 after 5 innings of play, the game will end

6.       If game is called due to darkness or weather, the game will be continued at a later date from where it left off

7.       3 total coaches, all must fill out volunteer form

8.       Must have 9 players to start game as this is in the Little League rules
