Program/Levels Overview

“High School Fall Program”

There will be two divisions within the High School Fall Program: Experienced and Foundational.  The high school programs are structured to prepare players for the upcoming high school season.  There are two practices per week and additional tournament options.  There will also be scrimmages that take place during practice.  The practices focus on developing skill level specific technique, game strategy and lacrosse knowledge.  8th graders are invited to play in the high school program since they are allowed to participate at the high school JV level (in some Counties -- including Fayette).

High School Experienced Program - REGISTER HERE:
We are excited to bring South-Atlanta the only fall training program staffed by active college coaches & players -- of the D1 Collegiate Women's game.
For players who have several years of experience and play at a competitive varsity level, Red Stix offers a program geared to fine-tuning already competent skills.  This program is the most advanced program offered by Red Stix and is designed to fine-tune players in the run up to the high school season.  For the intermediate/advanced lacrosse players, Red Stix has partnered with both of the 2 Division 1 collegiate Women's Lacrosse programs in Georgia, to provide the highest level of coaching possible.  The mid-week clinics will be provided by the college coaches (the first 5 clinics will be on Tuesdays, with the KSU Varsity Lacrosse staff, while the subsequent 4 weeks will have clinics on Wednesdays, with the Mercer U Varsity Lacrosse staff).  The Saturday practices will be run by the KSU player/coaches who have coached at Red Stix the past few seasons.

The first Training series in this program will feature Laura Maness, the Division 1 Varsity head coach at Kennesaw State University.  This training series will run from early-September thru mid-October and includes five, 2-hour clinic/training sessions -- on Tuesdays (4:30-6:30pm), beginning Sept. 10 and finishing on October 8th.

The second Training series in this program will feature the Division 1 Varsity coaching staff from Mercer University.  This training series will run from mid-October through mid-November, and includes four, 2-hour clinic/training sessions -- on Wednesdays (4:30-6:30pm), beginning Oct. 23 and finishing on November 13th.

The third Training series will be coached by experienced coach/players from the KSU women's D1 Varsity lacrosse team.  This training series will be on Saturday mornings (10:30am-12:30pm), beginning Sept. 14 and finishing Nov. 16th.

The Fall program will have 2-4 optional tournaments (signup separate) that will be available.

It will be highly beneficial for players to sign up for all 3 training series and get the exposure to the most incredible girls lacrosse coaching staffs EVER available on the south-side of Atlanta.

High School Foundational Program - REGISTER HERE:
Since lacrosse is growing so fast in Georgia, girls are joining the sport at different ages.  Red Stix provides this Foundational program to provide these new players with the correct foundations -- for all ages.  Players will develop basic stick skills like ground ball pick-up, cradling, passing/shooting and catching.  From the beginning, players will be instructed and drilled on using both left and right hands.  All of the high school programs in this area have spots available on their roster for athletes who are new to the sport; this training program will give your daughter a leg-up on other "beginners" who have never played or been coached on how to do things properly.   Learning these fundamentals well will provide the greatest growth opportunity for your daughter as she begins her lacrosse career.  Also, if she has played a season or two and is struggling, or you aren't sure she's really been taught a lot of basic, proper technique, this might be a good opportunity for remediation where there's no pressure to perform (play) in games.

This fundamentals training program will be in a "small group setting", and will be twice a week (one weeknight and one weekend day).  This training will be custom-tailored to the athletes involved, and will have lots of small-group skills training, focused on building stick skills and situational confidence.

**Highly skilled and experienced 6th and 7th graders can be placed in the high school program if the parents and coaches agree this is where the player will grow the best & most.  It's our goal to give kids the coaching and competition that will help them thrive; sometimes it's beneficial for a player to "play down" where they will have more individual instruction and can have added confidence, strength and speed to try new things where they can be successful... and sometimes it's beneficial for a player to "play up" where they will be challenged by stronger and more experienced players -- in a larger group setting.  It depends a lot on the player, and again, the goal is not to succeed (per say) in this league, but to grow her game as much as possible in this preseason program -- so she will have more tools and confidence to compete successfully during the Spring competition season.

Wherever you are in your lacrosse journey, we want to help you find a good program to help you grow your game.
