Girls' Lacrosse Program:
We have several training girls' lacrosse programs available that will emphasize technique and skill-building, in a small-group setting. We are prepared to coach all youth ages & experience levels, from Elementary through Middle School, beginner through advanced. These practices will focus on developing a strong foundation of skills for our beginners, and more advanced techniques and skills, for our more intermediate athletes. We keep the groups small so that we can focus on the individual players' needs and give tons of instruction and practice for the things they're ready to learn. We are not in a hurry to get the kids playing games as soon as possible; instead, we are focused on taking the time to work on building the skills they need to succeed once they are ready to play in games. If kids can't catch and throw well, we don't think there's a lot of value in putting them on teams and having them play games (not to mention; virtually all the opponents worth playing are on the "North side", so playing games also involves a significant amount of travel). Instead, we aim to optimize the return on your investment of time and effort to help grow your daughter as much as possible. We use our practice time to provide a ton of instruction and feedback as well as a good structured practice with lots of strong and experienced coaches, to help make sure your daughter forms the right habits and has early success with the basic skills. Once the kids begin mastering skills, we will set up small games and scrimmages (in house, for beginners) for them to compete, learn the rules of the game, and continue working on their lacrosse skills in a "live" situation. Our vision is for their long term success, which is only possible through a strong foundation of proper skill and technique. These practices for all ages and abilities will be 90 minutes long, at Kedron Elementary School. The plan for the more advanced Elementary school players is to join a rec league in Marietta, where there will be weekly games against other teams from the Atlanta-area. All of these games will be on Sunday afternoons, "away", at a couple of locations (changing weekly), in Marietta, GA. Each week the league schedules each team to play 2 games, and the season ends with a single-elimination tournament on the final Sunday of the season.
Youth Program - REGISTER HEREOur youth program is designed to give your daughter a fun youth recreational sports experience that will help provide a strong foundation of lacrosse to help her learn to love lacrosse. We teach proper fundamentals to make sure she has the best foundation possible -- which will help her begin her journey with the tools to have as much success as possible. When she begins to see herself having success, this will, in turn, build her confidence -- and the two together will teach her the valuable lesson that whatever she works hard at to accomplish, she can excel at!
Middle School Foundational Program - REGISTER HERE: Since lacrosse is growing so fast in Georgia, girls are joining the sport at different ages. Red Stix provides this Foundational program to provide these new players with the correct foundations -- for all ages. Players will develop basic stick skills like ground ball pick-up, cradling, passing/shooting and catching. From the beginning, players will be instructed and drilled on using both left and right hands. All of the high school programs in this area have spots available on their roster for athletes who are new to the sport and this training program will give your daughter a leg-up on other "beginners" who have never played before or have not been coached by someone who puts emphasis on how to do things properly. Learning these fundamentals well will provide the greatest growth opportunity for your daughter as she begins her lacrosse career. Also, if she has played a season or two and is struggling, or you aren't sure she's really been taught a lot of basic, proper technique, this might be a good opportunity for remediation.
