Week 9: GENTLENESS
Read Galatians 5:22-23.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Can you recite back to me the first 7 Fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23?
Today's fruit is Gentleness. Have you ever heard the word "gentleness" or "gentle?"
Show me how you would hold a pet or a baby animal if you were being "gentle."
Gentleness means you are calm and careful. It is being quiet with your voice and soft with your touch.
Why would God want us to be gentle?
Are there times where gentleness is a good thing in basketball? When?
What happens when we play too rough during a game or practice? What are the consequences?
Have you ever had a foul called on you before by a referee? Can you play hard and be gentle at the same time?
Jesus was gentle in spirit. He was kind and tender toward others. He held small children on His knee and He quieted storms with His words. We want to be like Jesus, so we practice being gentle.
Let's go over the 8 Fruit of the Spirit we have learned!
Please help me to be gentle like Jesus. Help me to have a quiet voice and gentle hands when I need to be. Help me to know when it is safe and Ok to be a little more aggressive.
