AGENDA

Burns Little League Board of Directors are excited about the upcoming season. We appreciate you choosing Burns for your child to learn the game of softball or baseball.

Above you will see the names and role for each board member. If you are interested in knowing who does what, click on their title and it will take you to where you can read more. Of course, if you have any questions, you can always reach out to one of us and we can help you.

Burns Little League partners with the City of Burns to use the new ballpark located at 192 Bobcat Court. We are thankful for this partnership and want to ensure we continue a positive relationship. The City of Burns will be responsible for the concession stand and assured us that it will be open during all games. The City will also mow the outfields one day of the week and Burns Little League will mow one day of the week. Steve Pace is the Field and Maintenance Director and would appreciate any help in fulfilling this obligation along with dragging/raking and lining the fields on game days.

Any questions or concerns regarding the facilities needs to be taken to a board member then to the president to handle. We would like an opportunity to determine if we can mitigate the issue without having to involve the City. If the City is needed to be included, the president will schedule a meeting with the appropriate parties for further discussion.

We ask that you try to handle any issues with the applicable person before bringing your written request to a board member. We will do our best to help mitigate the issue if you are unable to come to a workable solution. Everyone must remember that we are here for the children to have fun and learn the fundamentals of playing ball. Let’s set a good example for them by handling situations respectfully.

Constitution and Bylaws

Each local Little League function is based on a set of basic operating policies known as a Constitution. This document governs the annual procedures of a league in conjunction with Little League's rules, regulations, and policies. We are in the process of posting both our approved Constitution and Bylaws on our website. Once these have been posted, you will be notified via email of their availability. I have attached the approved Constitution, however, so you can take a look at it now.

Parent Code of Conduct

Parents should read, understand and AGREE prior to their children participating in our league. ANY PARENT GUILTY OF IMPROPER CONDUCT AT ANY GAME OR PRACTICE WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE SPORTS FACILITY AND BE SUSPENDED FROM THE FOLLOWING GAME. REPEAT VIOLATIONS MAY CAUSE A MULTIPLE GAME SUSPENSION, OR THE SEASON FORFEITURE OF THE PRIVILEGE OF ATTENDING ALL GAMES.

  1. I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth, not adults.
  2. I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
  3. I will learn the rules of the game and the policies of the league.
  4. I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game, practice or other sporting event.
  5. I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing and taunting; profane language or gestures.
  6. I will teach my child to play by the rules
  7. I will demand that my child treat other players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect
  8. I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
  9. I will praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard, and make my child feel like a winner every time.
  10. I will never ridicule or yell at my child or other participants for making a mistake or losing a competition.
  11. I will emphasize skill development and practices and how they benefit my child over winning.
  12. I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sports events.
  13. I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.

Fundraisers

Below are the events/opportunities for Burns Little League to raise money. Parents, please help us spread the word on these fundraisers. Without your help the league cannot purchase much needed equipment and pay our umpires. Remember if these options were created to help keep you from being asked to sell various items to your family members. If you have any fundraising ideas let Nikki know. We are always open to new ideas.

  1. Golf Tournament April at Greystone We are looking for hole sponsors. Please contact Nikki if you know of someone you think we should contact to be a hole sponsor.
  2. FlipGive (more attached) – An online store that gives a percentage of all purchases to Burn Little League. You can buy gift cards (digital or physical) or shop online. Check the website often as stores and percentages do change. https://www.flipgive.com/c/146036 - This FlipGive store is open to everyone so be sure to share it with your friends and family. The more people shopping through the store the more money the league makes.
  3.  Buffalo Wild Wings – Buffalo Wild Wings has not only stepped up to sponsor a team again this year but they are also partnering with our league to offer a percentage of meals back to Burns Little League. All you must do is visit our local Buffalo Wild Wings and mention to them that you are with Burns Little League Team A and they will give the league credit for your purchase. For a double whammy you can purchase a gift card from the FlipGive store to Buffalo Wild Wings and then mention that you are with Burns Little League and we get twice the cash back.
  4.  Silent Auction – Remember we need your help collecting items for the silent auction in addition to the team basket that will need to be prepared.

Sponsorship Information

Burns Little League is a nonprofit recreational league that relies on the support of corporate and community sponsors in order to provide a safe, instructional, and fun environment for players ages 3-13.  Your support and efforts will make it possible for us to fund our scholarship program (allowing every child the opportunity to play ball), purchase needed baseball and softball equipment, and keep our league affordable to the community.

We need everyone’s help in obtaining sponsorship so that we are able to operate the league at the level the community deserves. You can find more information on our different levels of sponsorship on our website as well as the downloadable packets.
