NSSA Program Descriptions

SPORT-SPECIFIC CLINICS

(Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Baseball, Softball, Cheer, Dance, Flag Football)

All NSSA sport-specific clinics focus on age-appropriate skill development, emphasizing the core fundamentals skills using our three-tiered development model (Steps 1-3). Participants will engage in various skill drills and modified games throughout the 4-days. Each clinic has its specific curriculum tailored for each age group led by a highly qualified coach with high school, college, or club coaching experience in that sport. All of the programs stress the importance of having fun while improving.

*NEW* DODGEBALL

Dodgeball is new this year and will focus on throwing mechanics and catching skills. We will play a variety of variations so the objective will not always be to aim for opposing players, though there will be many variations of this. Be advised, your child may get hit by a ball.

*NEW* OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

The Outdoor Adventure Clinic is led by Damon Clark, a rock/ ice climbing/wilderness explorer. Damon worked many years designing rock wall climbing facilities in England and is excited to share his passion for the outdoors with kids. We will teach kids about orienteering, survival techniques, low element climbing, project adventure team building, archery (for grades 3-5), disc golf in the woods, and hiking. This program will be primary in the woods.

*NEW*THEATER CLINIC

Theater Clinic will be led by Nick Panagioutou, Music & Drama Teacher, and Suffolk Theater of Performance Arts Graduate. Participants will engage in various activities to build confidence in singing, dancing, and acting. This program is held at Nipmuc High School in Upton in the auditorium.

COMBO CLINICS (MULTI-SPORT ATHLETE)

NSSA often runs different sports clinics in the same week. When this happens, athletes can select to participate in both clinics, bouncing back and forth between the other sports. They can change after snack, and after lunch, freely.

ADVANCED PROGRAM: GRADES 6-9: HALF DAY

The advanced clinics are specialized and focus on advanced training concepts and tactical play. The transition period from grades 6 to 9 is challenging as players need to become more physically, technically, and mentally prepared to compete at the next level. These half-day programs are sport-specific with advanced skill development, high-intensity training models, advanced tactical concepts, and competitive gameplay. A half-day is all that is needed. The program runs from 915-11:45. Participants can stay until 1215 and have lunch after camp if desired, ordering pizza.

ALL SPORTS CLINICS

NSSA's Multi-Sports clinics are a staple of NSSA's multi-sport athlete philosophy. These clinics allow young athletes to experience different sports, improve team-building skills through competition, and connect socially with their peers. Sports included: Soccer, Basketball, Floor Hockey. Field Hockey, Lacrosse. Flag Football, Baseball/Softball, Golf, Badminton, Basketball, and Olympic Events.
