Division Breakdown

Where Does My Athlete Belong?

  • Athletes whose age requires them to play within a division will be prioritized. If an athlete is on the cusp of an age group, they must be "drafted up" into a division.
  • All athletes are provided the opportunity to showcase their skills during evaluations and will be ranked accordingly.
  • Evaluations are followed by a draft process focused on skill assessment.
  • Athletes will be placed into divisions based on their talent and skill level.

Unlike earlier divisions, Pinto 8U involves keeping score and participating in playoffs, where seeding is determined by teams' performance in the regular season. This division utilizes machine pitch, with the pitching machine calibrated to deliver pitches at 40 mph. Batters face six pitches per turn, and failure to hit a fair ball results in an out.

It typically emphasizes friendly, non-competitive play, prioritizing fun and camaraderie above winning or skill level.

For additional questions on age breakdown, refer to the PONY baseball age key. PONY is more flexible with age divisions which allows players to play up when progressing, or play down if the athlete needs a bit more instruction.
