Practice & Game Tips for Coach Pitch
Here are common coaching practices that help keep games structured and supportive for young players:
Practice Planning
Focus on throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, and base running
Use a consistent batting approach to help kids make contact
Rotate players through different positions to develop skills
Keep drills short to maintain attention and fun
Coach Pitch Approach
Coaches may pitch from a comfortable and visible angle โ often from one knee to help the batter see the ball clearly.
Keep the pace moving by having extra baseballs ready at the mound.
Focus on encouraging swings and good mechanics rather than strict counts.
Game Structure
Ensure helmets and safety gear are always worn
All players get a chance to play and hit
Foster positive encouragement from coaches and parents
(NOTE: Always follow Streamwood Little Leagueโs official rules for games and safety, which may vary slightly from other towns or organizations.)
