In Memoriam: Jim Douglas

The Rainier District Little League would like to remember the long service of former league president Jim Douglas, who passed away this past spring just as our new season was beginning. For 35 years, Jim had been a partner in the law firm Theiler Douglas Drachler McKee and Gilbrough, primarily helping disabled people obtain Social Security benefits. A native of California, he had an equally impressive career giving back to his adopted community of Seattle, volunteering hundreds of hours with Habitat for Humanity and, especially, on the field and behind the scenes for the Rainier District Little League. In 2012, the Washington Bar Association honored Jim with its annual Community Service Award. In announcing the award, Seattle attorney and fellow Little League coach Mike Goldenkranz said, “James loves kids, loves baseball, loves his community, is passionate about life, and believes in quietly but intently and sustainingly giving back.

Our thoughts go out to Jim’s wife, Sasha, and their son, Owen. We’ll keep his memory in our hearts.
