COVID 19 Update and Season Survey
While the news this week that students would not return to school was not surprising, I am sure that many families were still not ready to hear the update. However, the Governor's Stay Home, Stay Healthy order continues to have a May 4th end date and Washington State Little League guidance continues to tell us plan to resume activities on May 11th. Rainier District Little League, along with the surrounding leagues in our area, are monitoring the current situation and continue to make plans to have a season.
Part of the planning process includes contingency plans for what will not be a normal regular season and likely a limited all-star post-season. To help us plan, we are
asking
families from all divisions
, TBall through 50/70/Juniors, in both baseball and softball,
to complete a survey
so that we can get feedback on what the season should look like.
Please complete the survey by
Saturday, April 18th
, by going to:
RDLL 2020 Season Survey
Many families in our community have inquired about the season and what would happen if the season was cancelled. Rainier District Little League is still figuring out the answers because as of right now, Little League International has advised at the state and national levels that individual little leagues should remain patient, listen to local health officials, and continue to plan to have a season.
The health and safety of our players and community is paramount. After this, our primary goal remains the same and that is to provide a safe environment for nearly 500 boys and girls to get out on the field and play ball. In order to provide that environment, we have a series of upfront costs that we make in anticipation of putting on the season. This means that in order to have a next season, we must always end the current season with enough funds to seed the next year, and so we are really hoping this season happens.
We appreciate everyone's patience while we work through this process. We plan to make a final decision on the season by May 1st and will continue to communicate with all of you as the situation changes. Please reach out to
[email protected]
if you have any questions.
We hope that you and your families are healthy and that you are getting outside in the sunshine to play some catch!
Thanks,
RDLL
