2024 Boys Spring Lacrosse
Registration:
EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION: December 17th - January 25th. Early Bird Registration reduces the cost by $25.
REGULAR REGISTRATION: January 26th - February 1st. *Some age divisions may close registration sooner or go to wait list status based on number of registered players.
All Players must live in DOWNINGTOWN EAST’s geographical boundary to register for LYA. All boys that live within DOWNINGTOWN WEST’s geographical boundary should register with West Bradford youth lacrosse program.
LYA Lacrosse is part of the Chester County Lacrosse Association (CCLA).
Teams Participating in the Chester County Lacrosse Association (CCLA): Avon Grove, Coatesville, Collegeville, Coventry, Great Valley, Kennett, Lionville, Oxford, Unionville, Wilmington, Cecil County MD, and West Chester
Divisions: Players are grouped by age and skill level. Please check your child’s division below.
*Please note, players may not play up or down an age division.
7th-8th Grade
· Players must live in Downingtown Area School District.
· No ninth grade players are eligible, regardless of age.
· Players will be evaluated for “A” and “B” level.
· Players can expect 1-2 practices per week and 1 game per week.
· Practice days and times will vary based on coach and field availability.
· Games are Scheduled for Saturdays beginning on 3/23; games cancelled for weather may be scheduled on weekdays.
5th-6th Grade
· Players must live in Downingtown Area School District.
· Players will be evaluated for “A” ,“B” and “C” level.
· Players can expect 1-2 practices per week and 1 game per week.
· Practice days and times will vary based on coach and field availability.
· Games are Scheduled for Saturdays beginning on 3/23; games cancelled for weather may be scheduled on weekdays.
3rd-4th Grade
· Players must live in Downingtown Area School District.
· Players will be evaluated for “A” and “B” level.
· Players can expect 1-2 practices per week.
· Practice days and times will vary based on coach and field availability.
· This is not a competitive level, there are no post season playoffs.
· Players will play 7 v. 7 games (round robin tournament style ... two 20-minute running time halves ... each team will play 3 back-to-back games) on a short field. These "mini-tournaments" will take place on Saturday mornings from 8am-11am or Sunday afternoons from 1-3.
1st-2nd Grade
· Players must live in Downingtown Area School District.
· Players can expect 1-2 practices per week.
· Games are round robin style with multiple teams called playdays.
· Playdays are typically on Saturday, there are 3-4 during the spring.
· If a playday is cancelled due to weather, it will not be rescheduled.
Kindergarten and under (Co-Ed)
· Players can expect 1 practice per week
· There will be no additional equipment needed for this level
· This is instructional only, no games or scrimmages
Required Equipment:
Helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, lacrosse stick, mouthpiece, athletic supporter and protective cup.
Evaluations:
Players are evaluated and placed on teams according to skill level and experience.
