LYA Fall Softball 2023

Welcome to LYA Softball! Registration is now OPEN for LYA Fall Softball.   Please go to LYA Softball Registration to register for 2023 Fall Softball.  Early Bird discounts ($25 off registration fee) run until August 14th.  Regular registration runs until the start of the season. Our season begins the week of August 8th and runs until November 4th (weather permitting). Divisions will close when they are full.  Player age for the Fall season is based on their 2024 Little League “League Age”.  If you would like to register as a coach for the 2023 Fall Season, please go to LYA Volunteer Registration.

Our Fall softball program is designed to provide an opportunity for girls from ages 6-16 to continue to play softball and work on their skills.  It gives girls moving up in 2024 to a new division the opportunity to play with the new rules and equipment at that level.  It also allows girls that are new to the sport or just want to try softball an opportunity to learn the game.  We encourage two sport athletes to give softball a try in the Fall, we’ve had great success with these girls playing softball over the past couple years.  The girls will play games against other LYA teams, as well as against other teams located in Little League’s District 28 which encompasses most of Chester County.

2023 FALL SEASON programs:

Rookies – (2015 & 2017 birth years) – The Rookies division focuses on the fundamentals of softball and teamwork.  Besides throwing, catching, hitting and base running, our goal is to help girls fall in love with the great game of softball.  The Rookies division introduces “kid pitch” alongside coach pitch to keep the game moving.

Minors – (2013 & 2014 Birth Years) - The Minors division continues with skill development while introducing more advanced softball concepts such as stealing, bunting, outfield relays, more pitching and catching. Players do the pitching, with a modified "coach-pitch" rule that allows coaches to step in and pitch in lieu of batters reaching base via a "base on balls" (walk).

Majors – (2011 & 2012 Birth Years) – The Majors program is the pinnacle of Little League Softball with increased pitching distance, more competitive rules, and a faster game.  The Majors adds dropped third strikes and infield flies to the rules and moves to 9 fielders as opposed to 10 in Minors and Rookies.  It also moves from an 11” softball to a 12” softball plus the pitching rubber moves back to 40 feet.

Junior/Senior – (2007, 2008, 2009, & 2010 birth years) - This is a player's first opportunity to play on a high school dimension softball field with traditional softball rules.  The pitching rubber moves back to 43 feet in Jr/Sr.
