Scorekeepers

• Home Team is the official scorekeeper and must keep a paper (traditional) book. 
• The visiting team will keep the GameChanger "book" (GC).  This is required for a team to keep GC this year, however, if both scorekeepers agree, they may switch roles of who keeps the paper and GC books. 
  • Remember, most all coaches asked for GameChanger at this year's manager meeting.
    
  • Intermediate, Juniors, and Seniors still need to keep a paper book if visitors because we inter-league.
• Only one person may use GC to score a game. Having both teams keep the GC book can cause conflicts in the stats.
  • You may have as many followers as you wish in the game (but they need their own login).
• If you choose to use a different type of scorebook, you are welcome to purchase your own if you have a preference of a different book.
• Scores will be pulled from GC and copied into the Dick's TSHQ website within couple days after the game is completed.
  •  If there is a discrepancy of the score, please email ([email protected]) to dispute the submitted score within 5 days.

GameChanger Notes: 

• Do not setup GameChanger, the this will be done for you by the league. 
• All teams, Minors, Majors, and Intermediate will have a GC team setup.
• All teams may provide 3 email addresses to be used as the scorekeeper admin for that team.
• GC will provide team stats for the three admin logins. Other parents, grandparents, friends, and other fans can follow the team for free. GC has various pricing levels that you may optionally pay to view. There is some discounts available if you purchase the entire team's stats for all parents. See the GC pricing page for details. Reminder, only one login can be used at a time to score a game (two users with one login cannot login simultaneously).
• It is strongly recommended that you keep close count of the pitch count outside of GC.  See the special rule where it reverts back to the first pitch of that batter below.
  
  

Beginners to Advanced: Training Guide

During the Training class on 2/21/19, we covered the Scorekeepers Guide. This was created by Danville Little League and is very comprehensive covering all the necessary topics for scorekeeping.

Note: Some of the policies and procedures are specific to DLL, and apply differently to LLL (i.e. iPads being provided, and where the pitching affidavits being stored, etc.). 

Local Rules

Little League is governed by Green Book rules. Livermore LL also has a set of local rules that our board of directors voted to implement. Most notably is the pitch count reduction.  Green Book states this is the pitch count.  But Local rules reduces this by 10 through April 15th for all age groups.  After April 15th, the normal pitch counts apply.  This was done to develop additional pitchers and give more players the chance to pitch, as well as save the arms of our players early in the season until they are fully in shape to be throwing the full count of pitches.

Exception: If a pitcher reaches the limit imposed in Regulation VI (c) for his/her league age while facing a batter, the pitcher may continue to pitch until any one of the following conditions occurs: 1. That batter reaches base; 2. That batter is put out; 3. The third out is made to complete the half-inning. Note 1: A pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches in a game cannot play the position of catcher for the remainder of that day. Note 2: Any player who has played the position of catcher in four or more innings in a game is not eligible to pitch on that calendar day.

(d) Pitchers league age 14 and under must adhere to the following rest requirements:

One question that came up during scorekeeper training is pitch counts to the last batter. Clarifies the above exception. The pitch count reverts back to the first pitch to the last batter that pitcher faced.  So if the 50th pitch is the first pitch to a batter and the pitcher ends up throwing 58 pitches and is immediately switched after that batter, before throwing another pitch, the pitch count reverts back and is at 50 for that outing. This is to reduce the switching of pitchers mid-count. 


(g) The official pitch count recorder should inform the umpire-in-chief when a pitcher has delivered his/her maximum limit of pitches for the game, as noted in Regulation VI (c). The umpire-in-chief will inform the pitcher’s manager that the pitcher must be removed in accordance with Regulation VI (c). However, the failure by the pitch count recorder to notify the umpire-in-chief, and/or the failure of the umpire-in- chief to notify the manager, does not relieve the manager of his/her responsibility to remove a pitcher when that pitcher is no longer eligible.

Note: A scorekeeper should NOT notify the coaches or umpire if a batter bats out of turn. This is only to be done by the manager.
