Hello TCALL Fans,
Our Board of Directors met last night and have come to the difficult
decision to officially end our Spring Season. This decision was made
after considering many factors, but especially the safety of our players and
their families. It is very disappointing for us, as we know how positive
youth sports can be in helping to recover from tough times. As much as we
had hoped to be able to resume, we have not been given any assurances that will
be possible any time soon. Our use of Live Oak Park is permitted through
the City of Temple City. The City is relying on health regulations and
guidance related to COVID-19 from L.A. County. We have been waiting for
L.A. County to move us into a phase that safely allows youth sports again, but
we haven’t seen any more progress leading to that phase. Once we advance
to that phase, we have been advised by Little League Headquarters to use 2
weeks for practices before beginning games again. Taking all of that into
consideration with the highest level of optimism, that would get us playing
games again at the earliest in July. In addition to that, we would need
to restructure teams, give additional training to managers, coaches, players
and parents, and implement many new guidelines. Our Board was willing to
put in all the additional work needed, but as potential dates to resume
continue to get pushed later and later into the summer we had to decide and not
continue to drag everyone along. I would like to emphasize again
how difficult this decision has been. We feel extremely bummed for our 12
year-olds who are missing out on their “graduation” season. It is our
hope that things will have some semblance of normal for next spring. We
are still looking into other options for our players this summer.
