Dear Parents and Prospective Dancers,

Thank you for your interest in the SJMSAA Dance Program. Being chosen as an SJMSAA Dancer should be seen as both an honor and a commitment. Team membership is a privilege and will focus on excellence in academics, leadership, and character during school, game-day performances and

competition.

Academics should be a priority for all SJMSAA Dancers. A successful dancer should prioritize school and home first, making their dance team activities "electives". Squad members must maintain a 2.0 GPA. However, we expect many of our dancers will exceed this minimum requirement. Being a student-athlete is rewarding. Leadership and integrity are important qualities that each candidate must possess. The SJMSAA board expects dancers to set a positive example for behavior and character not only at school but in the community as well. Whether in uniform or not, a SJMSAA dancer must exhibit respect, trustworthiness, fairness and good sportsmanship to all those around him or her. In school, respect includes arriving to class on time and being prepared with materials and assignments. As a result, teacher recommendations may be used as one of the indicators in the tryouts and may impact the tryout scores. Commitment will be the key to a candidate’s success as a SJMSAA dancer. Dancers will be expected to attend all scheduled practices, games and team activities.

SJMSAA DANCE REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS:

All details about the SJMSAA Dance program are found on the SJMSAA.com Dance Page .

Tentative schedule includes:

- Parent meetings for each team will be listed under each team's logo on the SJMSAA webpage once available.

- Early Registration Tryout dates may begin in early March. Regular tryouts will commence on various dates between April 1st and May 31st.

- Tryout results will be posted after tryouts are held and sent by the team coach; Teams will may have practices throughout the summer, with the regular season beginning in August.

- Sideline participation includes Football and Basketball Game performances but may vary per school (please contact your team’s Coach).

All seasons require a non-refundable $35 tryout (audition) fee. You will select the Register button, and begin creating a member profile. If you have an existing member profile, sign in with your username and password. Please follow the steps to register for auditions. Once auditions have occurred, athletes who are selected for a team will receive an email notification that includes a link to pay the full season registration fee of $540.00.
