Our Philosophy: Develop for the Next Level
At Freeport Little League, our philosophy is simple: develop players for the next level.
We aim to help every player build
age-appropriate skills and strong baseball or softball IQ, creating a
foundation for success at the district level and beyond. Our approach
prioritizes development over winning, ensuring long-term growth and love for the game.
We follow a building-block system:
What This Looks Like
Players Below the Minor Kid Pitch Level
-
Consistent station work and high volumes of touches during practice
-
Emphasis on fundamentals over simulating game situations
-
Focus on building a strong foundation so coaches at higher levels can advance skills, not reteach them
Players at and Above the Minor Kid Pitch Level
-
A more balanced approach between station work and game situations
Continued emphasis on high rep drills
-
More emphasis on the development of baseball/softball IQ - Game/Situation Simulation
Targeted pitching and catching drills and specialized clinics
By
progressing through this structured system, players develop confidence,
skill, and understanding — setting them up to compete successfully at
every level of play and we work toward a more competitive overall
program!
