Softball “Recreation Style” vs. “Competitive/ Travel” components:

"Rec Style" is similar to a traditional recreation program; however, there are simply not enough teams to play against one another in a singular town (e.g., red team vs. blue team both in Byram). The Lenape Blazers organization has decided to offer a "Rec Style" softball team for 3rd and 4th graders only (as of Spring 2023, but opportunities change as enrollment increases or decreases). This team will play other town teams within the newly formed Sussex County Girls Rec Softball League, which is comprised of a variety of towns within Sussex County. Games are typically scheduled for Saturdays with some weeknights. The estimated number of games is between of 8 to 10 games per season which would not interfere with the travel schedule.  "Rec Style" is a lighter commitment than travel.  The season will start on or around April 22nd and end by June 12th.

"Travel Softball" is more competitive with games as well as tournaments. Typical roster size is between 11 to 12 girls. The roster is determined by coaches during annual evaluations which will occur Saturday March 2nd, 2024, at indoor practice at Prospects Baseball & Softball.
