NJ Department of Health - Guidance for Sports Activities

This link will take you to the May 18, 2021 NJ Department of Health's Guidance for Sports Activity.

Masks: Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order No. 241 eliminating the requirement of masks in outdoor public spaces, which was established under Executive Order No. 163 (2020). The Order reaffirms the masking requirement in indoor public spaces and workplaces, but clarifies that individuals at small gatherings in private residences are not required to wear masks indoors.

Effective May 17, 2021, individuals are not required to wear masks at outdoor events, unless the operator imposes its own requirements. Unvaccinated individuals are encouraged to wear masks in outdoor settings. Athletes (when not actively participating in activity), coaches, referees, trainers, and spectators are required to wear masks in indoor settings.

Screening: All athletes, coaches, staff and others participating in practices and competitions must be screened, via temperature check and/or health questionnaire at the beginning of each session. Players, coaches, staff, and volunteers showing symptoms of COVID-19 shall not be permitted to participate. If any individual develops symptoms of COVID-19 during the activity, they should promptly inform organizers and must be removed from the activity and instructed to return home.

Other important points:
  * Continue to practice social distancing
  * Limit, as much as possible, the sharing of equipment
  * frequently wash / sanitize hands
  * STAY HOME if not feeling well
  * When playing or attending games in another town, follow the other town's rules
