This is the most competitive level of Little League baseball. All players ages 9-12 that would like to play in Majors must attend a tryout. All 12 year old players and prior Majors players will automatically be drafted onto a team, but must attend tryouts for evaluation purposes. Teams will be redrafted each year. The number of Majors teams will vary each year based on the number of registered players of certain ages as well as the number of qualified players.
The most skilled players will be drafted into this division. There is a greater emphasis on team play as coaches teach players how to work together as a unit to try and win games. Every player must play 3 at least innings in the field (Little League rules call for 2 innings, but BHLL requires at least 3 innings). Nine players bat in the lineup, and every player may have at least 1 at-bat per game. Stealing is allowed. There will be a regular season and post season with a champion crowned in this division.
Since advanced skills are required, and teams often use advanced plays in the Majors, players are expected to commit to attending practices and games. Coaches will make playing assignments based on each player's skill level, attendance, work ethic and baseball knowledge.
Majors level baseball games are exciting. Kids look forward to having their names announced over the PA system and having a hot dog and soda after the game at Library Field.
