District 30 Town Hall

1) Roll Call & Staff Introductions
2) My Vision for District 30 moving forward
a. Increase registrations and coach training
b. Develop a family environment with all leagues
3) Charters – Get done asap – 4 out of 10 leagues have chartered.
4) Constitutions – Get them done early and loaded into data center
5) Confirm officers – 3 of 10 leagues have confirmed
a. Must do background checks before office assumes duties
b. 125 free background checks thru JDP
c. District will do President & Player Agent for each league
d. Managers and Coaches must pass background before participating
6) New 4-7yr old player rule
a. Older sibling rule
7) Registration
a. Do not close registrations
b. I will review registration numbers for combined leagues situations

i. No Coach agreements
ii. Only MANAGERS in draft

a. New Website – Sports Connect
i. Would like to add league’s and district’s history to website
b. Looking for volunteers to help with social media platforms for district.
11) Safety – Jeff Key
a. Safety Meeting on 1/21/25 at NESALL at 7pm
b. Safety Plan must be completed by 3/1/25 – Do it now and done
i. Download last year, make changes, re upload and DONE!
ii. AEDs mandatory on all fields – Email Kent by 12/13 on how many you need as I will be looking into bulk discount for district.
iii. Background Checks – See Item #5
12) Machine Pitch Tournament – Brett Curran
a. Time and Details TBD
13) Challengers – Kelly Curran
a. If you have interested Challengers and not enough for a team please contact Kelly Curran and she will help you get with a league that is fielding a team.
14) Angel Day – Denny & Marianne Curran
a. April 6 vs Cleveland Guardians
15) Scorekeeping Clinics – Jason Johnson
a. Would like to find 5-7 interested individuals from the leagues that would be interested in joining a district scorekeeping group to help with tournaments and all stars.
b. Scorekeeping clinic is Feb 5 @ Santiago MS at 6:30pm
c. Each team should have one person attend
d. A lot of leagues and teams use Game Changer but books will be continue to be used for District 30 tournaments and all stars
16) Hosting Post Season
a. Discuss with your board and email Kent ASAP which you would like to host.
i. If no volunteers, Kent will ask leagues to help out.
b. We have Major Section Tournament
17) Umpires – Gary Corradino & Bob Gerbasi
a. Umpire Field Clinic – Feb 1, 2025 – Time and details TBD
b. Rules Clinics at Santiago MS at 6:30p -8p
i. Jan 28 & 30 – Suggested to attend at least one.
c. Pizza Meetings
i. Each month at Lampost meetings for all umpires and coaches to attend to go over certain rules and situations. Anybody can attend!!!!!
ii. Each month at Lampost the UICs will have meeting with District staff
d. Make sure you get game schedules to Mike Mags asap so he can get it entered onto the Umpire excel schedule sheet. Umpires will sign up for games on that program and they fill their time fast.
e. Umpire Incentive Program – District will continue to promote and ramp up the incentive Program. Details will be shared at Umpire Lampost meeting.
18) Chuck Kibby Tournament Proposal
a. Talking points handed out at meeting (attached to email) for Presidents to discuss with their BOD on eliminating the current “city” tournament format and use the new proposed tournament format. These are starting discussion points and nothing is in stone and everything is on the table including tournaments for single A and Coach Pitch divisions if leagues are interested.
b. Vote needed by Dec. 13.
i. If approved, then a tournament committee will be assigned by Kent, and they will format the rules and regulations of the tournament as well as the time of the tournament.
ii. If NOT approved then the current “city” tournament format will continue and tournament directors will be assigned to put those together.
19) District 30 has been invited to play with Section 10 for a 8/9 yr old all star tournament (no charge for our team).
a. Do we eliminate 10 yr olds from 8/9/10 Pool Play?
b. Do we create a small 8/9 separate tournament?
i. Interested leagues need to talk/email kent.
