AYBS Updated 2020 Season Plan

Dear AYBS Community-
As we mentioned last month, we postponed our spring season. The board has considered a number of scenarios that would allow us to maximize our ability to play baseball and softball, whenever we are allowed to take the field. The hardest part is the unknown, every time that we think we have a viable plan that we are ready to roll out, a new variable is thrown into the planning…..but we are ever optimistic.

Here is the most current plan that we are working with, (assuming we get the all clear):
We will play our “spring” season this summer. The season will run from early July through mid-August for all players in all leagues.  Please know that this is a target date and the season could start earlier or slightly later based on the available circumstances. While we normally have a robust summer program, we also recognize that people have other plans in summer besides youth sports, we hope that our schedule is flexible enough to allow for both.

All registrations will carry over from the spring. Players not wishing to play should opt out using the refund request form found below.  If we do not hear from you by Friday, May 22, we will assume that you will be playing summer baseball and softball.

The following FAQ should answer any questions, including opt outs for those choosing to not play.

What about summer tournament teams (Tondorf, Sizzler, Ashland Rec league)? As of this writing, it is unlikely the traditional summer tournament season will be played as normal. Our conversations with other towns indicate that our schedule will not interfere with any potential plans for other towns to run an end of summer tournament.

What about the Sparkler tournament for 8 year old players? The Sparkler tournament has been pushed back, and our plan is to run our tournament towards the end of the summer.

There is usually a spring registration and a summer registration, do I need to register to play in the summer? Spring registrations will carry over to the summer season. If any tournament teams are fielded, then a new registration will be required.

My family would prefer not to play, can we get a refund? Yes. Please fill out the form to request a refund.  If requesting a refund, please complete AYBS 2020 Refund Form by May 22, 2020.

I didn’t sign up for Spring AYBS but would like to play in Summer, can I? Yes, players can register by emailing [email protected]

AAA and Majors softball play against other towns, how is that going to work? Plans are being developed to field summer teams in the Twin Valley League at the U8, U10 and U12 levels. For specific questions please email [email protected]

What about Senior Baseball? Most of the towns who participate in the 495 Babe Ruth League are willing to commit to playing this summer. Therefore, Babe Ruth will also play Spring baseball this summer. Any changes will be communicated by the coordinator and any questions can be directed to [email protected]

We appreciate everybody's flexibility as we try to create a safe season for all players and fans. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any additional questions.

Thank you,

AYBS Board
