Luke Babson

Luke Babson - Head Coach

Coach Luke is entering his 7th season as a coach for the club.  As a player, Luke competed with Eastside Timbers as a player before moving on to Clark College.  Luke then transferred to Coloardo State University in 2005-2006.  After his collegiate career, Luke competed with the Denver Dynamite, a professional Arena Soccer league team.  Luke finished his playing career with the Cascade Surge in  2009.  Luke transitioned into coaching and began as an assistant coach for Western Oregon’s women’s program.  He currently coaches with Portland Timbers RTC program as a head coach, and is  also  the head coach of PDX FC of the NPSL.

Coach Grant is an Eastside Timbers product who has been with the club since its inception.  While competing with Eastside Timbers, Grant and his team won several state cup championships.  He also played his high school soccer for Sam Barlow High School and went on to compete at the collegiate level.  Grant competed with Concordia University and later transferred to Warner Pacific college before transitioning into coaching. Grant works with several teams at the club, works with the JV and Varsity program at Gresham High School, is a Portland Timbers RTC East Head Coach, and is a Portland Timbers ODP Assistant Coach.  When Grant isn’t coaching with the club, he is a substitute teacher and an AVID tutor in the Gresham-Barlow School District.

Jimmy Weber - Head Coach

Coach Jimmy has been a part of Eastside Timbers for over 17 years.  Jimmy is a well-established soccer coach in the Northwest working with the Seattle Storm, Tacoma Stars, Gresham High School boys varsity, and is still working with Central High boys varsity team.  As a player, Jimmy won a national title with Federal Way Goalpost, 3-time undefeated High School Champion for Thomas Jefferson, played at the University of Portland for 4 years, and played professionally for FC Portland, Portland Timbers, and. Seattle Storm. Jimmy was primarily a centermidfielder and a right midfielder. 

With Eastside, Jimmy and his teams have achieved unprecedented success across all State and Regional levels.  Jimmy’s son Brennan is a former Eastside Timbers player who went on to compete at the University of Portland and will be graduating in May of 2019 with a bachelor's degree.  When he is not coaching, Jimmy and his wife, Jolene, own Dar Mar Homes, Inc, and also for Weber Insurance Agency.

Kyle Foster - Assistant Coach

Coach Kyle has been with  Eastside Timbers since 2013 and works as an assistant coach, as well as a goalkeeper coach for the club. Kyle grew up playing club soccer in Oregon and won 6 OYSA State Championships with CFC, Westside, and FC Portland. He played high school soccer at South Salem High School where he won the 2009 OSAA State Championship and received first team all-state honors. After his youth career was over, he attended the University of Portland as a goalkeeper for two years before an injury put an end to his collegiate career. After his playing career was over, he transitioned into coaching where he does a lot of work with Eastside Timbers, as well as University of Portland.

Coach Rex has been a part of Eastside Timbers since the club’s inception back in 2001.  He has played an integral part in our staff’s development over the  course of his time here.  Within our club, Rex has worked with several teams and was Eastside  Future  Stars Director back in  2011 and 2012.  Rex has also coached the Barlow High School JV Girls soccer team, has been the Head Coach of the Gresham High School Boys Varsity team since 2010, and has been a Portland Timbers RTC/ODP Coach since 2014.

Joey Leonetti - Head Coach

Hometown: Gladstone, Oregon

Coach Joey has been with the club since 2017, but has a wealth of coaching and playing experience that extends over 25 years.  As a high school athlete, Joey was a 2-time all-state selection, and was state player of the year in 1987.  Joey attended the University of Portland where he was a numerous all-conference selection, a regional & All-American honor, and was a Herman Trophy Finalist in 1991.  In his playing career, his team made a final-four appearance in 1988.  His collegiate tenure earned him a Hall Fame career and was inducted into the Hall in 2001. Joey went on to play at the professional outdoor and indoor ranks with the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks, Seattle Sounders, Portland Pride,  and Portland Pythons. In 1996, Joey won a national title with the Seattle Sounders and we named playoff MVP.  Joey has also earned national team caps with the USMNT and the USMNT U-23s. 

After the conclusion of his playing career, Joey transitioned to coaching where he has worked with Gladstone, West Linn, and Oregon City High Schools.  Joey earned  Coach of the Year honors with Gladstone and West Linn during his tenure at those schools.  Joey now coaches the B03 Red team, but also serves as an Executive Director with Eastside timbers.  Outside of coaching, Joey also has nearly 20 years of business management  experience from the chemical and manufacturing industries. His son was a former Eastside Timbers player who now plays with FC Tucson.

Antonio Maddedu - Assistant Coach

Coach Antonio has been with the club for about 5 years.  Antonio currently works with our high school boys age group.  With his teams, his group was a Lake Oswego Cup Champion and was also a 2-time State Cup Finalist. He has also coached the Central Catholic varsity team for 4 years and coached at Pacific University for 4 years.  When Antonio isn’t coaching with the club, he trains new baristas and maintains quality throughout all retail cafes and national accounts for Caffe Umbria Coffee Company.

Coach Pedro is entering his 4th year with the club.  Coach Pedro began his coaching career with Centennial Soccer  club, which is now known as Barcelona  Oregon.  Coach Pedro has also worked with Woodburn High School and Centennial High School in recent history. Coach Pedro is bilingual is uses this as a great way to connect with  players on his team and the youth players in the community.

Coach Dalon is closing in on one full year with the club.  As a player, Dalon grew up playing in  Dallas, Texas and primarily played as a center-midfielder.   Dalon went on to compete with Ouachita Baptist University and Dallas Christian College before transitioning to coaching.  Dalon has coached  several  different high school teams, he coached  at DYSA in Colorado, and when he is not coaching with Eastside Timbers, he is coaching with the Multnomah University Men’s Soccer program.

Julio Loza - Head Coach

Coach Julio has recently joined Eastside Timbers, but has a tremendous amount of experience working with all levels around the Portland area.  Coach Julio worked with several technical training programs, but took a big step forward in his coaching career when he became the Warner Pacific University Women’s Assistant Coach.  Coach Julio has also  spent some time working with the Warner Men’s program.  Coach Julio transitioned to Oregon Soccer Academy, BSC Oregon, and Hillsboro Soccer Club where he held roles including Developmental Director, Assistant Director of Coaching, and Director of Coaching.   As a student, Julio has a Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration, a B.S. in Health and Human Kinetics, and a B.S. in Education.

Adam Leyland

Adam 'Gaff' Leyland - Head Coach


Adam (Gaff) Leyland, Director of Coaching. Gaff, was the Director for Clackamas United and is currently the Varsity Coach for the LaSalle Girls. In addition he has coached many very successful girls teams at Southside, THUSC, and Crossfire. He is an experienced leader, progressive, and supports our mission and vision of continuing to build a strong community within the Eastside Timbers Football Club.


Gaff will have the overall responsibilities to insure the growth and development of Eastside Timbers as we reach out to the East County to give more children the opportunity to play the game and be an integral part of the Eastside Timbers Football Club Family.

Coach Scott is entering his 4th year with Eastside Timbers, but Scott has been coaching for over 17 years.  In his playing career, Scott was a Florida State High School Champion in 1983, Clearwater Central Catholic Florida State Cup Champion in 1986, and competed for Loras College as a defensive player.  When Scott is not coaching at Eastside, he is a PE teacher for the Franciscan Montessori. Earth School.  Coach Scott has also been the La Salle JV Boys coach for the past 3 years, and his son Luke also competes with the B04 Red team.

Coach Mark has been with Eastside Timbers for over 18 years.  Mark has been coaching youth soccer at several different levels for well over 20 years. He has worked with various high school programs including Central Catholic’s girls program, Clackamas High School girls program, and was the Reynolds Varsity boys head coach for over 5 years.  Mark was also a former Eastside Board Member who still continues to consult with the club.  Mark has a daughter who also currently competes with Eastside Thorns FC.

Jay Jacobsen - Assistant Coach

Coach Jay has been coaching amongst the youth and high school ranks for over 15 years now.  Jay grew up in Gresham, Oregon, and competed with West Villa soccer club.  In his youth career, he won 3 State Cup titles, was a Nomads Cup Champion, and a Dallas Cup Champion.  Jay also competed for Sam Barlow high school as was on the Oregon ODP team.  After his high school career was completed, Jay competed with California Lutheran University and Warner Pacific College on a full-ride scholarship. 

As a coach, Jay’s teams have taken home Clash of the Border, Founders Cup, and Oswego Nike Cup 1st place  medals.  Jay is currently the head coach of the Sam Barlow Women’s soccer team when he is not coaching with Eastside.  His son Brighton also competes with Eastside Timbers.

Keegan Rogers - Head Coach

Coach Keegan is an Eastside Timbers product who began playing for the club when he was 5 years old.  Keegan played recreational soccer until he was13 before switching to the competitive side.  At the youth competitive level, Keegan was a State Cup Champion, Nomads Cup winner, 2-time Oregon ODP State Captain, a Region IV selection, and a member of the Portland Timbers U-23 roster.  As a high school athlete, Keegan was a 7-time All-State Selection and a 2-time State Champion across two sports.  After the conclusion of his youth career, Keegan traveled to Bellingham, Washington to compete for Western Washington University.  Keegan was a 4 year starter and currently holds several school and GNAC records from his tenure with WWU. Keegan also graduated from WWU with an English degree with a teaching emphasis.  After college, Keegan received invites to the Arizona United, Real Salt Lake, Seattle Sounders, and Portland Timbers 1st team camps. Keegan competed in the Desert Diamond Cup with FC Tucson during this time period and later joined them for the PDL Season. After a successful season with the FC Tucson,  Keegan traveled to Sweden and Denmark to play professionally abroad. Keegan then came back to the Northwest and began coaching on a more consistent basis.

After arriving back from Europe, Keegan began coaching at Titans FC in Bellevue, Washington. Keegan coached several teams for the club and was also the club’s Director of Goalkeeping. During his time there, he also began coaching for the PSPL Surf Academy as an assistant coach and a goalkeeping staff coach.  Coach Keegan continues to work with the Surf Academy’s B07 and G05 age group.  Coach Keegan has also worked with Pro Elite Technical Training, Western Washington’s Men’s program,  and Oregon Premier Futsal.  When Keegan is not on the field coaching, he is the  Eastside Timbers’ Marketing and Communications Director. Keegan's father,  Glenn Rogers, is a long time coach for Eastside Timbers.  Keegan's younger brother, Austin Rogers, is currently a professional goalkeeper who competed with Eastside Timbers his entire career before turning pro.  Keegan's youngest brother, Cameron Rogers, is another Eastside Timbers product who competed at the International level with the US Paralympic National Team.

Coach Sal has been a part of Eastside Timbers since 2002.  Soccer has played a big part of Sal’s life ever since the age of 3.  Sal puts in a lot of working with Parrot Creek Child and Family services working with at-risk youth using soccer to teach life skills and good character.  Sal has also worked with Jefferson High School and Sandy High School boys varsity programs.  Sal’s teams have had a tremendous amount of success winning the Clash at the Border and Beaverton Cups several times, but Sal’s greatest measure of success is the player’s ability to enjoy the game and develop a passion for the sport.  Sal has two kids who compete with Eastside Timbers.  When Sal isn’t coaching, he is working for Leatherman Tool Company, being a mentor to the youth or Portland, and being a good father.

Coach Mike has been with Eastside Timbers for over 5 years.  Coach Mike has been playing the game of soccer since the age of  5 and still plays the game to this day.  He currently competes with men’s leage team Kells FC.  Coach Mike and his team have had a lot of success in tournament play, including a 2018 President’s Cup Championship.  Coach Mike has 3 children, two of which compete for the club.  Coach Mike is close to completing his D License and is looking forward to future coaching opportunities with the club.
