Volunteer Opportunities

Our Little League is run entirely by volunteers. The league relies on parent and community involvement to be successful. Please consider volunteering for an open league volunteer role or team support position - or both! If you think you can help us and have fun doing it, please let me know.

Open Volunteer Positions

Division Coordinators:
The Division Coordinator's role is to form teams with the Registrar using information like school, teammate requests, coach requests, etc. Then during the season to help communicate with the managers in the division to ensure their scheduling and team management issues are addressed. This role requires several hours a week in late Feb when teams are being formed, then maybe a few hours a week at most thereafter.

Player Agents:
When conflicts arise between coaches and players/families, which is rare, the Player Agent represents the player and his or her family. Need one for each division. Minimal time commitment.

Equipment and Storage Assistants:
Our directors of Equipment and Uniforms oversee gear and clothing for what amounts to an infantry battalion. Organizing storage and distribution of it all is a huge effort, especially early in the season. They could use some help. This position will be a busy one early in the season (March/April) and at the end of the season (June) as the gear needs to be gathered up from the teams and stored for the next season. In between it may just mean a few minutes here or there to help a manager with a specific request.

Sponsorship Assistant:
Assist current sponsorship director in recruiting sponsors for NCLL (you'll have lots of help from board members and managers) and then ensure they are assigned teams, reflected on the web site, etc. It's hoped the assistant will take over for the director in future seasons. A few hours a week over the winter is required, then when the season starts, not much help needed at all.

Umpire Coordinator:
Help recruit umpires from parents/coaches, etc. and organize training with the Umpire in Chief. Then when season is on, help coordinate coverage for games. A few hours a week in late winter and during the season.

Treasurer Assistant:
Assist the current treasurer with the bookkeeping for the league with a view to taking the Treasurer position the next season. A few hours a week scattered throughout the year.

Baseball Coaching Coordinator:
Help Division Coordinators recruit and then train coaches at all levels. A few hours a week during the late winter recruiting and preparing coaches.

Jamboree Coordinator:
Our mid-season classic! Managing a few volunteers to organize concessions, the parade of teams, and other duties associated with our Jamboree. Several hours of work leading up to the May date, then nothing.

Safety Officer:
Prepare and distribute the safety plan to all volunteers. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to get involved with the board because our outgoing safety officer has built some repeatable infrastructure. A few hours a week leading up to the start of the season.

Company-Paid Volunteer Time

Many companies in this area (e.g., Microsoft) will donate to NCLL as much as $25 per hour for your volunteer time! Don't miss this opportunity to support your local Little League with volunteer time AND with a cash donation from your employer at the same time. Please consult with the Human Resources department of your employer to determine if such a program is offered and how you can make it happen.

How to Register as a Volunteer

Per Little League Int'l regulations, any person, even a parent of a player on the team, who interacts with the kids during practices or games MUST get a background check covering criminal convictions. The first step is to register as a volunteer. Once you do that, within 24 hours you'll get an email from our background check vendor, JDP, with a link to a confidential questionnaire. The questionnaire only takes a few minutes to complete and results typically come back to the league within 24 hours. It is free to you and strictly confidential.

Here's how to register as an NCLL volunteer:

  1. Login to your account on this site.
  2. Go to the Account area by clicking on the My Account button.
  3. Click Volunteer in the left-hand nav.
  4. Click the Find Volunteer Roles button.
  5. Click the appropriate role.
  6. If in doubt, choose Assistant Coach.
  7. From there just follow the path.

We appreciate your help. If you have any questions, contact our registrar at [email protected].
