Tee Ball

• Designed for boys and girls league age 5 or 6 - typically Kindergarten or last year of pre-school.
  

• Tee ball provides an introduction to hitting and fielding. A safety ball is used and players bat off a tee. Everyone plays in the field and bats each inning.

• Team selection is based on coach/teammate requests, siblings, and school. Girls may select a preference to play on an all-girl team.

• In the pre-season there are two practices per week; during the season there is one practice (weeknight) and one game (Saturday) per week.

• Tee Ball typically practices at Upper Ross Park.

A Division - Machine Pitch

• Division made up primarily of 7 and 8 year olds (league age) and would be next step in competition after Tee Ball.

• A safety ball is used and players will bat machine-pitched balls. There are minimum play requirements.

• Team selection is based on coach/teammate requests, siblings, school, and, to some extent, parity within the division. Players who are league age 6 may be considered for this division but must have played one year of Tee Ball and/or be approved by the Player Agent and their previous coach.

• In the pre-season there are two practices per week; during the season there is one practice (weeknight) and one game (Saturday) per week.

AA Division - Coach/Player Pitch

• Division made up primarily of 8 and 9 years olds (league age) and would be next step if graduating from A baseball.  Last division where players are not divided up by skill level through assessments.  Every year a few of best 7 year olds play AA baseball.
• Games will be a combination of coach-pitch and player-pitch. Players will continue learning baseball rules and will begin to understand why they are making certain plays. There are minimum play requirements.

• Team selection is based on coach/teammate requests, siblings, school, and creating parity within the division. In the pre-season there are two practices per week; during the season there is one practice (weeknight) and one game (Saturday) per week.

• AA teams typically practice at either BF Day Field or Lower Woodland Fields.

AAA Division

• Division made up primarily of 10 and 11 year olds (league age) and would be next step if graduating from AA baseball.  Every year a few of the best 9 year olds play AAA ball.  Nine year olds must attend “player evaluations” to be considered to play AAA baseball.
• Games will be player-pitch. This division is both instructional and competitive with an emphasis on instruction. There are minimum play requirements.

• Team formation is based on results of pre-season assessments (and previous year coach reviews) with the intention to create parity. Players must participate in assessments.

• In the pre-season there are three practices per week; during the season there is one practice (weeknight) and two games (weeknight and Saturday) per week.

• AAA teams typically practice at either BF Day Field or Lower Woodland Fields.

Majors

• Division of all 12 years olds plus the better 11 year old players and every year a few 10 year olds.  Majors baseball division would be next step if in this age group and player was one of better players on previous years AAA team.  All 10 and 11 year olds must attend “ player evaluations” to be considered for Majors Baseball.  All 12 year olds must also attend “player evaluations” to build the teams.
• This division is both instructional and competitive with slightly more emphasis on the competitive aspects of the game than in AAA. There are minimum play requirements. Managers focus on fielding a competitive team while also providing the players with a fun learning experience. Players should focus on refining their baseball skills with a strong emphasis on consistency.

• Team formation is based on results of pre-season assessments (and previous year coach reviews) with intention to create parity. Players must participate in assessments.

• In the pre-season there are three practices per week; during the season there are three games per week.

• Majors teams typically practice at either BF Day Field or Lower Woodland Fields.

Juniors

• Designed for players league age 13 and 14. Juniors play on a 90-foot diamond.

• There are minimum play requirements. North Central teams play other teams from our district, which include Ballard, Queen Anne, Magnolia, Richmond, Northwest Seattle, and Northeast Seattle.

• Tryouts are held for player placement only; all players make a team. Team selection is through a draft process with a goal of parity.

• Juniors teams typically practice at either Greenlake or Lower Woodland Field #1.

Seniors

• Designed for players league age 15 and 16. Seniors play on a 90-foot diamond.

• There are minimum play requirements. North Central teams play other teams from our district, which include Ballard, Queen Anne, Magnolia, Richmond, Northwest Seattle, and Northeast Seattle.

• Tryouts are held for player placement only; all players make a team. Team selection is through a draft process.

• Senior teams typically practice at either Greenlake or Lower Woodland Field #1.

• Players are often able to play both High School baseball and Seniors. We leave registration for this division open longer, so high school players can make decisions based on their high school season. Contact the league if you have questions about this.
